JCP to regulate CJs’ power in appointing judges
To ensure timely appointments to vacant positions in high courts and the apex court, deadlines will be specified in the JCP rules. The rules committee aims to finalize the amended draft of the JCP Rules, 2010, by December 29. Pakistan condemns terrorist attack at Iranian police headquarters
Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Rask Police Headquarters in the southeastern region of Iran, which killed 11 Iranian officials and injured several others. On Friday, at least 11 Iranian police officers were killed in an attack overnight on a police station in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan. The attack was claimed by Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) group, in a brief statement on its Telegram channel. Pakistan expresses deep concerns over use of modern weapons by TTP
UNITED NATIONS - At the United Nations, Pakistan has expressed deep concerns over the possession and use of modern and sophisticated weapons by the terrorist group TTP. They acquire them from illicit arms markets or receive them from entities that want to destabilize a particular region or country. He said it is the responsibility of all the states and the UN to take measures to prevent illicit trade, transfer and diversion of these arms. He demanded an investigation into how the TTP acquired the sophisticated weapons being used against Pakistan’s border and other posts. The Ambassador said Pakistan will continue to work closely with the international community towards exposing those who are responsible for supporting, financing and externally sponsoring such operations.

Peace for Palestine: Ahsan Khan makes a statement
Joining the global struggle for Palestine’s liberation, fashion designer Emraan Rajput’s latest showcase for men’s bridalwear became a statement of solidarity. The traditional Middle Eastern scarf has gained global recognition as a symbol of Palestinian nationalism and resistance over the past few decades. Govt resolves disputes with KE

The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet approved the signing of the Power Purchase Agency Agreement (PPAA), Interconnection Agreement (ICA), Tariff Differential Subsidy (TDS) Agreement, and Mediation Agreement. The end of the commercial dispute could also facilitate the takeover of KE by Shanghai Electric. KE has also submitted a plan for the generation of over 3,000 MW of electricity.

Upcoming Elections are on path
It is the responsibility of the state to ensure that elections are conducted in a terror-free environment. In an odd turn of events, bureaucrats were also assigned to assist the ECP in holding the 2018 elections that resulted in the PTI winning. Because we have already entered a constitutional limbo by holding elections after the deadline, we cannot allow this legal inertia to last indefinitely. The only way to address Pakistan’s numerous problems is through democratic continuity rather than ad hocism, even though elections won’t solve them all right away. It is therefore hoped that no more obstacles are put in the way of prompt, transparent, and fair elections, particularly now that the SC has clarified the situation.

Price Cuts
Price cuts by Rs10 to Rs14 per litre on petroleum are good news as well as representative of a balanced fiscal approach being adopted by the government to shield the citizens from bearing a direct impact of economic constraints. The new petroleum prices reflect a fall in the international market. This gives the policymakers a good chance to periodically see how, when, and to what extent, price relief can be given. Though an overall challenging time for the country economically, the fortnight revision of petroleum prices has turned out to be a strategic approach where in accordance with exchange rate fluctuations and the international market, the gains are translated into price cuts of petroleum products. Additionally, the government’s adherence to the maximum permissible limit of Rs60 per litre for petroleum levy demonstrates a responsible fiscal approach.

PK Not Attending December 20 Yuvagalam Conclusion Meeting
Pawan Kalyan will be attending a future public meeting after TDP finalises its manifesto, whose drafting could not be completed due to imprisonment of Chandrababu Naidu, said Atchannaidu. Addressing media at the party office in Tadepalli, Atchannaidu said the closing Yuvagalam meeting will be addressed by TDP national president Nara Chandrababu Naidu and national general secretary Nara Lokesh. However, Pawan Kalyan will be attending a future public meeting after TDP finalises its manifesto, whose drafting could not be completed due to imprisonment of Chandrababu Naidu. The TD state president said around six lakh people, including one lakh party workers from different parts of Andhra Pradesh, will be attending the meeting. A large number of YSRC leaders and workers are expected to join the TD in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu during the public meeting, Atchannaidu added.

PM Kakar pays tribute to APS Shuhada, says nation united against enemies of peace
