ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Tuesday urged the Supreme Court to take notice of discrepancies in delimitation of the constituencies instead of endorsing every act of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). It added that despite its lower population compared to Gujranwala Division, an additional seat has been allocated, raising questions about the transparency of the electoral process. It maintained that in light of these circumstances, the PBC cannot turn a blind eye to these critical matters. They stress that the Supreme Court of Pakistan, as the highest Constitutional Court, must take notice of these discrepancies instead of endorsing every act of the CECP. It continued that the PBC remains committed to upholding democratic principles and fostering transparency in the electoral process for the benefit of all citizens.

By Nasim YousafSince 1947, Pakistan has faced a tumultuous history marked by political upheavals, economic difficulties, corruption, and instability, with Muhammad Ali Jinnah serving as the inaugural Governor General. The letters reveal Jinnah’s pursuit of a Cadillac super-limousine, a Lincoln, and a Beechcraft Model 34 airplane, indicating a disconnect with the nation’s crisis. Facing Pakistan’s financial crisis and a scarcity of parts and servicing facilities, the planned acquisition of aircraft and a Lincoln car had to be abandoned. Jinnah’s opulent lifestyle, devoid of personal sacrifice, inspired a societal pursuit of wealth among politicians and the public. Another PPP leader said the PPP expects to gain majority in the National Assembly with the help of the smaller parties as it will be ‘difficult’ to maintain a relationship with bigger parties in a coalition government.
