It is obvious that this government did not weigh the implications of the state pardon before the pronouncement as such interferences only encourage political thieves and other public servants to embezzle public funds and go unpunished. Corruption in Nigeria has become so cancerous which makes the electorate believe the current administration would fight and eradicate corruption. Crimes are vices that should not be tolerated by any government and it shows that this administration is sabotaging its anti-corruption fight with state pardon granted to convicted ex-governors. Lai had said that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration would not take the rating seriously. The recent pardon sparked outrage against the administration with human rights lawyer, Femi Falana and other concerned Nigerians asking Buhari to pardon all thieves in prison.

The offering achieved the lowest (outstanding) Nigerian bank Eurobond coupon, supported by an over three times oversubscribed orderbook of over $1.6 billion, which represents the largest orderbook by a Nigerian bank. An independent investor, Amaechi Egbo said by issuing foreign currency-denominated debt instruments, Nigerian banks are exposing themselves to foreign exchange risk. According to him, these banks will face foreign exchange risk over the life of the bonds when issued unless the government reviews the monetary policy downward. According to the stakeholders, any foreign currency-denominated corporate bond issued by a local company imposes exchange rate risk on the issuer who earns their income in local currency. He categorically stated that the factors that will prevent default like forex earning assurance or derivatives contracts to mitigate currency risk are not in place in Nigeria.

The two dominant parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC are both in deep quandary in determining their presidential candidates. There is absolutely no reason for the PDP to seek to jettison its own constitution to favour any particular candidate. (1) The Party shall have a manifesto which, subject to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, shall be implemented by all organs of the party and governments elected under its platform. The Party shall strive to –b promote federalism and an equitable revenue sharing formula. Believe it or not, University of Lagos or indeed any other university in that class, represents the totality of Nigeria.
