Though the quartet of MTN, Globacom, Airtel and 9mobile have respectively sent out links that can assist affected subscribers to get their SIMs linked, there is yet no respite for their subscribers. He said until NIMC confirms and returns the NINs, that is when confirmation is guaranteed and linkage done. “I will appeal to affected subscribers to exercise some patience. Operators usually wait for NIMC to confirm and verify collected NINs after they have sent those received to the NIMC backend. The Commission must first confirm before the affected lines can be unbarred,” he stated.

Twitter on Monday confirmed it is selling the platform to billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in a deal valued at $44 billion. The sale was a dramatic shift for the board, which had originally maneuvered to block Musk from taking the social media network private. “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a joint statement announcing the takeover. Musk had taken a major stake in the firm earlier this month before lining up last week some $46.5 billion in financing to push forward with the purchase. Twitter board chair Bret Taylor said the body “conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” according to the statement.

At the last count, there were, between the two major political parties, 23 persons aspiring to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a free and fair election. Moral uprightness, or in one word, rectitude is a sine qua non for a leader to be trusted. He who jumps from one political party founded on a particular set of principles and ideology of governance, to another that may be completely at variance with the former is unreliable, untrustworthy, and unfit for leadership. But this also applies, unreservedly, to political parties and the manifestoes they freely, without compulsion, offer to the electorate. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba is reported to see the many aspirants from his party as an indication of its capability to rescue Nigeria.

The important point is what we are borrowing for, at what cost and our capacity to repay. It is important to state that the fact that someone is a technocrat does not automatically confer success on him. Unfortunately, many successful technocrats keep away from politics because they believe they are safer in their comfort zones. Charles de Gaulle also said that politics is too important to be left in the hands of politicians. With what I have seen in the political space, I encourage more people who have something to offer to join politics.

Results projection 58 % Emmanuel Macron 42 % Marine Le Pen Source: Ifop-Fiducial projected results at 20.00 CEST Detailed resultsAbout France’s presidential electionThe election on Sunday 24 April is a runoff to decide between the first two candidates from the first round of voting on 10 April. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen topped that earlier poll. For most of the campaign, it seemed that Macron, the incumbent president, would win comfortably in the second round. A key factor will be how much support Macron can garner from those who voted for leftwinger Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round. Mélenchon has enjoined his voters not to give a single vote to Marine Le Pen, but for Macron this support is more ambivalent than he might have hoped.
