Following an appeal against the shutdown of operations, the National Assembly and the Ministry of Aviation have summoned the airline operators to a meeting tomorrow. “Aviation fuel alone used to take about 30 per cent of the entire revenue. But in another twist, one of the signatories to the shutdown memo, Ibom Air, yesterday retracted plans to abort operations tomorrow. In a statement signed by its management, Ibom Air disagreed with the decision of AON to suspend flight operations. Ibom Air has financial obligations to suppliers, financiers, and staff, which depend on the uninterrupted flow of revenue to service.

The unclaimed dividend control tussle between shareholders and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) assumed a perceived negative turn last month, following an announcement by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the penultimate Thursday. The outfit disclosed that the N170b unclaimed dividends have finally been remitted to the Unclaimed Dividend Trust Fund (UDTF), which is being managed by the Commission and the Debt Management Office (DMO). The investors suggested that instead of creating a trust fund for unclaimed dividends, the government should simplify letters of administration for deceased families, and make the process of claims less cumbersome for investors. In the view of the Independent Shareholders Association, creating a trust fund is a disincentive to investment, as previous trust funds were marred by allegations of corruption. In Section 39(f) of the Finance Bill, it is stated that all unclaimed dividends that have remained unclaimed for a period of not less than 12 years shall lapse into government revenue, and shall be transferred from the unclaimed dividends trust fund to the federal account as federal revenue.”

Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that a consortium led by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly has won the battle to buy the Premier League club in a £4.25 billion ($5.2 billion) deal. After a lengthy bidding process involving several groups, Boehly and his fellow investors were picked by Raine Group, the New York bank overseeing the sale. Boehly is expected to attend the Premier League clash with Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The sale of the European champions brings the curtain down on 19 years of nearly unbroken success under the 55-year-old Abramovich, who has overseen five Premier League titles and two Champions League triumphs. They suffered a painful Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid but should still seal a place in next season’s Champions League by finishing in the Premier League’s top four.

I had a discussion with him and he gave me assurances that they did not have a candidate and I asked him, ‘If you do not have a candidate what about Ademola Adeleke’? We instructed them that they should give it to Ademola Adeleke’. When I submitted the petition, we were all seated and Secondus came out and sat down. Did you work for him to destabilise the Osun PDP as being insinuated? I pulled out of the PDP primary election against Ademola Adeleke.

A new study showed that extensive use of smartphones by a toddler’s mother or father could damage their development. Many mothers carry their smartphones close to them, and they are looking for a moment to sneak away for some time to scroll through social media. The last was to play with the child while the smartphone and magazines were outside the room (uninterrupted free play). This includes the linguistic content, how interactive the discourse was, and to what extent the mother responds to child bids. Smartphones have their good sides; the distraction it causes from other things is what mothers should look away from.

Where does all my money go? How many times have you said to yourself, “Where does all my money go?’’ Some people believe that the problem of lack of money is a spiritual problem while some people believe that they do not earn enough hence the consistent state of lack. One of the key factors to be able to track your money expenses is your ability to attain financial prudency. It also means having complete knowledge about the money you have, the money you don’t have and how you can make it grow. Buy things that only add value to you—Never spend money on things that don’t add value to your life.
