The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has uncovered a farm suspected to be an Indian Hemp plantation allegedly owned by a 30-year-old man, Thaddeus Joseph, in Kado Estate, Life Camp area of the FCT. “The Thirty-two (32 ) years old male resident of Kado Estate Area of the FCT was arrested for the offence of being in possession of a commercial amount of leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa on the 7th of September 2022 at about 3:00 pm. “The arrest follows the heels of received credible Information that the above suspect cultivates a large farm of leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa on a piece of land at Godab Estate in the Life camp Area of the FCT. “Upon the arrest, the suspect in a voluntary statement confessed to have been in the practice for about Two(2) years. September 15, (THEWILL) – Correspondent of The Guardian newspaper in Benue state, Comrade Joseph Wantu, died in the early hours of Tuesday, at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi. Joseph Wantu had a running battle with illness since November 2021, and has been in and out of hospital for medical attention. He was admitted to King Cross hospital, Makurdi, on Wednesday, but was discharged on Thursday evening. However, on Sunday, at about 8:00 pm, the hiccup ailment aggravated and he was rushed to Bishop Murray hospital where his case was referred to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital for better medical attention. Comrade Wantu who hails from Kwande local government area of Benue state left behind his wife, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone D, Comrade Chris Atsaka, has commiserated with Benue state chapter of the Correspondents’ Chapel over the demise of its member and The Guardian correspondent, Mr. Joseph Wantu. Mr. Wantu passed on, Tuesday, September 13 at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) following a brief illness. Comrade Atsaka who is in charge of Zone D paid a condolence visit to the Correspondents’ chapel Wednesday, described the death of the Guardian Correspondent as ‘unfortunate’, adding that it is ‘devastating’. He attested to the character of Wantu as a peaceful person, noting that he played the role of an elder. CROWN Flour Mill (CFM) Limited, the wheat milling subsidiary of Olam Agri, a global agribusiness in food, feed, fiber, has unveiled an impressive first-year report of its ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme. The report was unveiled during the third edition of the agribusiness stakeholders’ consultative forum, the Olam Agri Greenland Webinar Series that held virtually recently. The report showed that the initiative achieved its first-year milestone of producing 10Kg of pre-multiplication wheat seed varieties that suit the unique local topography and climate. CFM seeks to address these challenges through the Seeds for the Future initiative, its signature N300 million wheat value chain development project that was launched in 2021. He said focused legislation to back value chain development policies would ensure changes in government would not affect policies.
