Unlawful detention: Platform capital boss drags IGP, Abiola’s daughter to court
The Chairman of Platform Capital, Dr. Akintoye Akindele, has dragged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and five others; the Nigeria Police Force, Summit Oil International Limited, Dr. Zulikat Wuraola Abiola, Duport Energy Limited and Mr. Oluwatosin Odusanya, before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly detaining him beyond the limit provided by the constitution. He supported his suit with a 62-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Adebanjo Ojedapo, a litigation manager in the law firm of B.A. Law LLP, the counsel to the applicant. He stated that due to the failure of Dr. Zulikat Wuraola Abiola to perform on its obligations under the Product Sale Agreement to supply crude oil to the Energy Park, Duport Midstream Company Limited incurred losses and could not get feedstock. FG-Siemens 11,000MW project for completion 2030

Source: TwitterThe completion date of the 11,000 megawatts power project signed between the Federal Government and German-based Siemens has been shifted to 2030, according to reports. In 2019, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Alex Okoh, on behalf of the Federal Government, had signed the agreement, while the Global Chief Executive Officer of Siemens, Joe Kaeser, signed on behalf of Siemens, to achieve 7,000 megawatts of reliable power supply by 2021, and 11,000 megawatts by 2023. However, a report by Bloomberg on Monday quoting the head of business development and government relations at Siemens Energy, Oladayo Orolu, said the company expected to complete the project by 2030 “due to delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”Related NewsThe three-phase project was set back by delays in starting the first phase, he said. “When we conceptualised this project in 2018, our plan was within two years we should be done with phase one, but then COVID-19 happened, disrupting supply chains, which meant getting raw materials took longer than before,” Orolu said.

Mob beats Lagos policeman to stupor for pushing man crushed by BRT
A mob has beaten a yet-to-be-identified policeman to a stupor after a man identified simply as Yusuf got rammed by a BRT bus from the impact of being allegedly pushed by policemen in the Ketu area of Lagos State. The PUNCH gathered from eyewitnesses at the scene that the policeman and his colleagues were attempting to dispossess Yusuf of his vehicle when he got pushed into the BRT lane. In the process, one of the BRT buses plying the lane inward Lagos rammed into Yusuf who collapsed due to the impact of the crash. The uniform of the brutalised policeman had been torn due to the impact of the attack on him by the angry mob. People were also seen lamenting over the incident and blaming the policeman and his colleagues for causing the accident.
