Recall that the musician had shown his interest in the vacant stool of Awujale, linking his lineage to the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House. The Fusengbuwa ruling house, which is the ruling house to produce the next Awujale, had, however, rejected the claim, saying that Wasiu Ayinde is not from the royal house. The musician is commonly believed to be from the Fidipote ruling house of Ijebu Ode, and this he had always alluded to in his music. However, giving his ruling on the application for the interim injunction order on Monday, the presiding judge, Justice A. A. Omoniyi, held that the interim injunction prayed for by the applicant lacked merit.

Court orders status quo over installation of Onisemo of Lagos
Lagos State High Court has ordered all parties to maintain the status quo in the dispute over the proposed installation of a new Onisemo of Lagos, pending further hearing in a suit challenging the selection process. The order followed an application by members of the Onisemo Chieftaincy Family, who are contesting moves to instal Lookman Oluwa, also known as Lookman Noah Fagbayi, as the Onisemo. The claimants are Olabiyi Kosoko, Mrs Hawawu Abiodun Teluwo (suing for themselves and on behalf of the Onisemo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos) and Mr Olusegun Gbolade. In an affidavit in support of the application, Kosoko, a princess and the first claimant, deposed that she is the Secretary of the Oshokeji Ruling House of the Onisemo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos. She alleged that in May 2025, the eighth defendant invaded the Onisemo Palace at 127/129 Enu-Owa Street, Lagos, and laid claim to the stool.

INEC Rejects Turaki's PDP Faction Amid Leadership Crisis
The Independent National Electoral Commission has rejected the Tanimu Turaki (SAN)-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, citing subsisting court judgments and unresolved legal processes. In response to the decision, the Turaki-led NWC’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, maintained that the party leadership was legitimate and emphasised that there was no faction within the PDP. However, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Nyesom Wike-backed faction, hailed the move as a faithful adherence to court judgments. PDP governors had endorsed the Ibadan convention, where Turaki and other members of the NWC were elected on November 16 for four-year terms. “INEC must remember that democracy is hinged on majority rule, so the committee of friends of Wike and Anyanwu cannot be validly referred to as a faction of the PDP.

From a corner, Alex Iwobi’s inswinging delivery was glanced expertly into the far corner by Semi Ajayi, giving the Super Eagles a deserved lead. ETWe're awaiting the result of an appeal from Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf, who was suspended two games for an altercation with a Detroit Lions fan on Sunday, one that could prove to be much costlier. As we wait, more videos are popping up from the incident with alternate angles. There's a video going viral from after the incident. There's a claim that the fan can be heard saying, "That was the goal, folks!" but I've listened to this one a few times and I couldn't necessarily hear that (Editor's note: I'm old.).

Power outage temporary, supply to return in 48 hours – Adelabu
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday, assured Nigerians that electricity supply will be restored within 24 to 48 hours, following a recent dip in power availability triggered by a temporary shortfall in generation. PUNCH Online reports that the drop in power supply followed an explosion on the Escravos–Lagos Gas Pipeline, compounded by acts of vandalism on critical gas infrastructure, which disrupted gas supply to several thermal power plants across the country. Morton Valence “Punch Drunk” – seeing the world through a blurred lens
There’s a couple of things that you’ll notice immediately about this new song from Morton Valence – the first is likely to be that it’s seasonally inappropriate, as Robert ‘Hacker’ Jessett sings “It was a cold Easter Sunday…” – 23rd of December and we bring you Easter. The second thing you’ll notice is Anne Gilpin’s shimmering and unsettling Marxophone. As the song’s narrator makes his way through a seaside town on a Bank Holiday it’s clear that not everything is going quite to plan – unrecognisable friends appear and are wiped away again, metaphorical and maybe literal fists are thrown. The song is also a signal that things will start moving for Morton Valence pretty early next year – they have a gig at the Boogaloo in London on Feb 8th featuring BJ Cole, and there will be a new album coming later in the year.

Lamido, a founding member of the PDP and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the failure of the party’s leadership to urgently resolve deepening divisions could compel him to align with another political platform. “If we cannot find solutions to the problems facing the PDP, I will have no option but to look elsewhere,” Lamido said. Stop blaming govs alone, FG takes 52% of revenue, Radda says
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming state governors alone for the country’s worsening economic hardship, saying the Federal Government controls more than half of the federation’s monthly revenue. “Whenever there is hardship, people blame governors and local governments. It is the remaining 48 per cent that is shared among the 36 states and 774 local governments,” he said. According to the Governor, the impact of these projects is already visible across Katsina State’s local government areas. “If you go to the local governments today, you will see a lot of economic activity because funds have reached the communities,” he said.
