ILO condemns Hamas attack on Israel, backs UN Sec-General’s call for ceasefire, release of hostages
The International Labour Organisation (ILO), through its Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, has condemned the attacks by Hamas against Israel, which resulted in more than 1,400 deaths and at least 200 abductions of Israeli and international civilians. “Of particular concern is the situation of the estimated 18,000 to 20,000 Gazan daily workers in Israel. Also, the ILO has called for heavy investments in the care economy.it said, “Without care workers, there would be few services for pre-school children, older people, or those with disabilities. Without care workers, millions of people could not go to work, which means parents not able to support their families and businesses losing valuable talent. Fight against climate change calls for significant collaboration

ResultsIn the current synthesis, the team categorized the popular fad dietary patterns as least, moderately, and most restrictive. Other popular fad dietary patterns accommodated the maximal vegetable, fruit, and protein intakes except the ketogenic, carnivore, and liquid diets. Therefore, whole grains consistently scored low, indicating submaximal adherence in all popular fad dietary patterns.

Chinese loan rises by $800m in one year, hits $4.73bn
The first loan project was for the Nigerian Communications Satellite project with $200m agreed on January 12, 2006. The third loan was for the Nigerian railway modernisation project (Wu- Kaduna section) with $500m agreed on December 20, 2010, and disbursed. Only the 15th loan project was presented in Chinese Renminbi Yuan. Regarding repayments, The PUNCH observed that within the period under review, Nigeria serviced Chinese loans with $263.14m. The PUNCH recently reported that the United States said China had the potential to influence the Nigerian government through Chinese loans.

Judge reinstates Trump’s gag order in election subversion case
A federal judge has reinstated a limited gag order on former President Donald Trump in his 2020 presidential election subversion case. An hour after the news emerged, Trump called the judge “Trump hating”. The gag order “will put me at a disadvantage against my prosecutorial and political opponents”, he said in a post on his Truth Social social media account. Trump’s legal team had also asked Judge Chutkan to recuse herself from the case, arguing past comments she had made created a perception of bias against him. The former president is also under a gag order in a separate ongoing civil fraud trial in New York.

S’Court verdict: ‘I believe you will make us proud,’ PDP Senator congratulates Tinubu

Two trapped, die inside diesel reservoir in Kano
Two middle-aged men at Baban Gwari Roundabout on Katsina road in Kano, lost their lives after being trapped and suffocated inside a reservoir tank. The Public Relation Officer (PRO), Kano State Fire Service, PFS Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, made this known in a statement made available to the press on Sunday. According to him, the Kano State Fire Service promptly responded to an emergency call and arrived at the scene minutes later. All efforts were made to rescue the victims, but they were already unconscious, adding that despite their rescue, both individuals were pronounced dead shortly after. The PRO stated that the Kano State Fire Service always emphasized the importance of placing safety as a top priority and urged the public to exercise caution in all tasks undertaken.
