Star singer Teniola Apata, also known as Teni, has shared her story about being told she had a potentially fatal throat infection. Teni revealed that she suffered from a throat infection while working on her second album, “Tears of the Sun.”This happened only a few months after she confided in her fans about her struggles with weight reduction. She revealed that after experiencing multiple episodes of temporary vocal loss, doctors advised a significant procedure to prevent permanent voice loss. Teni posted a video of her journey that included her in the hospital, even though she didn’t have surgery but was still receiving therapy. The singer gave her fans a genuine assurance at the end of the video that her new album, “Tears of the Sun,” would be released on November 17.

Israeli-Hamas: S’Africa, Chad recall envoys, EU pledges more aid
South Africa and Chad announced they would recall diplomats from Israel for “consultation” in response to the Israel-Hamas war. The European Union will ramp up aid to Gaza by 25 million euros ($27 million), EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said, as the humanitarian catastrophe inside the strip deepens. “Today I can announce that we are further increasing the humanitarian aid to Gaza by another 25 million euros. By doing so, the European Union would spend a total of 100 million euros in humanitarian aid for the civilians in Gaza,” she said. The bloc is working alongside Israel, Egypt and the United Nations to facilitate more aid deliveries into Gaza, Von der Leyen added.

Startup founders seek favorable govt policies to encourage students into tech
The convener, Damilola Mogaji advocates support from the government and critical stakeholders for students on campus to be able to stand on their own using technology. According to Mogaji, most of these Tech startups like Jobberman and many others started from campus. Mogaji further stated that a lot of potentials are on student campuses but unfortunately, there is little or no support to push these talents. Nathaniel Nuiz, an entrepreneur, urged the government to provide an enabling environment and policies that will work and encourage young individuals to continue to push for more. Other speakers at the conference also called for formulation of policies that will provide solutions to the challenges of unemployment amongst graduates.

Over 11 million farmers have benefited from AGRA’s Agric extension model — Country Director
The Nigeria Country Director of AGRA, Rufus Idris, has disclosed that over 11 million farmers have been reached with new agriculture technologies through AGRA’a agriculture extension model called Community Based Advisory. This model, according to him, has been able to close the gap between extension agents to farmers from one extension agent to 5000 farmers, adding that there are plans to further reduce it. “We have been able to promote an agriculture model that has really worked, that is the community based advisory model which is mainly a model that is private sector driven and to ensure that farmers at the last mile get access extension services. “It used to be one extension service agent to more than 5000 smallholder farmers. We have been able to close that to one extension agent to lower than 500 smallholder farmers and we are working harder to see how we can further close that gap.

ITTF rankings: Quadri drops, Mati, Omotayo move up
Aruna Quadri dropped one spot from 15th to 16th in the latest International Table Tennis Federation world rankings for October, The PUNCH reports. Despite the drop, the 34-year-old is still the top-ranked player in Africa, having accumulated 1,175 points during the month under review. Egypt’s Omar Assar is second in Africa after he retained his 20th spot in the world ranking. Diaw is ranked 98 with 208 points while Mati is placed 99th in the latest ranking having recorded 207 points in the month under review. Olajide Omotayo, Bode Abiodun, Amadi Omeh also moved up in the latest ranking published by the ITTF.

BREAKING: Court reserves judgment in Kano gov's appeal
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reserved judgment in the appeal by the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, challenging his removal by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. Dissatisfied with the judgment, Yusuf appealed against the tribunal verdicts and urged the court to set aside the judgment. Olanipekun argued that the tribunal has created a new jurisprudence that departs from the precedent set by the appeal court and the apex court with its judgment. Counsel for INEC, A.B Mahmoud SAN asked the appeal court to dismiss APC’s cross-appeal, adding that it was lacking in merit. I urge the court to allow this appeal as it is preeminently meritorious and set aside the judgment of the lower court,” he added.
