BREAKING: Old naira notes remain legal tender indefinitely – CBN
The Central Bank of Nigeria has extended the validity of the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes indefinitely . “Thus, all banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria, in accordance with Section 20(5) of the CBN Act 2007, will continue to remain legal tender, ad infinitum. “The Central Bank of Nigeria is working with the relevant authorities to vacate the subsisting court ruling on the same subject. “Accordingly, all CBN branches across the country will continue to issue and accept all denominations of Nigerian banknotes, old and redesigned, to and from deposit money banks. “The general public is enjoined to continue to accept all Naira banknotes (old or redesigned) for day-to-day transactions and handle these banknotes with utmost care, to safeguard and protect the lifecycle of the banknotes.

TCN says national grid is intact, supplying electricity to distribution load centres nationwide
Ndidi Mbah, TCN’S General Manager Public Affairs, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday. Mbah said that TCN did not make any statement through her office that there would be a national blackout as claimed in some quarters. She said, "The statement is mischievous and baseless as TCN, through the Public Affairs Head, did not make such. Shipping company records 94% revenue drop
French shipping company, CMA CGM, has reported a 94.5 per cent drop in net income in the third quarter of 2023. The shipping company in its recent report on Monday, titled, ‘Third quarter 2023 financial report’, sighted by The PUNCH, said that it revenue within the period under review, stood at $11.4bn. CMA CGM is the third largest container shipping company in the world, and it also brings goods to Nigeria. The company recorded a net income of $7,039bn while in the same period in 2023; the company had $388m. CMA CGM said it is undergoing a gradual rebalancing of contributions from the group’s maritime shipping and logistics businesses.

Street sweeper bags life jail for defiling teenage girl
Justice Abiola Sholadoye of the Ikeja Special Offences and Domestic Vilence Court on Monday arraigned and sentenced a 32-year-old street sweeper, Damilola Omojolowo, to life imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl. Omojolowo was convicted on one count of defilement of the girl, whom he claimed was his girlfriend. Aruna qualifies for WTT Finals in Doha
Nigeria table tennis star, Quadri Aruna, has been listed as the 15th player to qualify for the season-ending World Table Tennis (WTT) Finals Championship, which features the top 16 players in the world. The event will hold from January 3 to 5, 2024 in Doha, Qatar. The Nigerian will be making his third appearance at the WTT Finals. Aruna remains the only African player to have featured in the WTT Finals having competed at the maiden edition in Singapore, as well as the 2022 edition in China.
