For the first time in nearly two years the forthcoming review of the Official Cash Rate (OCR) by the Reserve Bank (Wednesday July 12) is not a 'live one'. So, the August 2021 RBNZ review of the OCR officially became a 'live one', with the universal expectation that the OCR would be lifted for the first time since mid-2014. There's more than enough there to justify the RBNZ being able to raise its hand once again and say 'no more' to OCR rate rises - at least for now. I would expect a similar 'key' paragraph to end the OCR statement in the coming week. The 'heavy lifting' (of interest rates) is done.

Bebe Rexha shared photos after receiving stitches for her injury. Some experts do have some theories - and point to social media as one of the things to blame. She then picked up a T-shirt cannon and shot it into the crowd as she told them: “Stop throwing things at the artists.”Singer-songwriter Charlie Puth called the trend “disrespectful and very dangerous”. This trend of throwing things at performers while they are on stage must come to an end. If this weird trend ends up leading to changes in the level of surveillance and security at concerts, we all lose.

It also does not matter that the causes of crime are generational, cultural and due heavily to colonialism and poverty. Which is why the intensity of the grumpy campaign that National is running is so irksome. It does not normally matter that our economic problems stem from overseas events, normally Governments get punished if the economy is gloomy. What Labour has to do to win this campaign is to create a sense of pride and unity and celebration.
