The moment a 150km/h gust of wind knocks over a campervan with a holidaying family inside has been captured in terrifying dashcam footage. The fully-loaded vehicle was blown over on New Zealand's Mount Cook Road, which leads deep into the southern alps and the country's tallest mountain, Aoraki, at 2pm on Sunday. A sedan traveling closely behind had to swerve off the road to avoid being hit by the sliding camper. Lanes in both directions were blocked, and the family members trapped inside the were miraculously uninjured. The road was closed between Lake Pukaki and Aoraki/Mt Cook after the crash.

Peters was unable to answer any of the questions about NZ First policy costings and resorted to derails and avoidance most of the time. Twice in the interview, Peters implies that if he is in government he will go after TVNZ because of this interview. If you can’t vote Labour, Greens or Te Pāti Māori, then vote for the Women’s Rights Party. But failing that, the Women’s Rights Party have progressive policy across a range of issues that matter for women. Whatever happens with their party vote this year, if you really need to do a protest vote, voting WRP will help them build momentum for 2026.

The Press Leaders' Debate was scheduled to take place on Tuesday night, but with Hipkins being unwell and in isolation, the decision was made to postpone the event. "Christopher Luxon is taking advantage of Chris Hipkins’ sickness by trying to slip out of The Press debate entirely. Senior Labour MP Grant Robertson said on Monday: "Christopher Luxon is running scared from Chris Hipkins." The only person who has pulled out of a leaders' debate is the leader of the Labour Party and our Prime Minister, Chris Hipkins. Luxon last week after the Newshub Leaders Debate admitted his performance was worse than in a clash the pair had the week prior.

A Next-branded ATM at Christchurch shopping centre Eastgate sparked concerns at the weekend when it displayed a message telling customers they would be charged $7.50 per transaction. In comparison, most banks no longer charge a fee for withdrawing cash from their own ATMs or those of other banks. We see that every day.”Claire Matthews, a banking expert from Massey University, said it was unlikely that private ATM providers were making big profits. A Reserve Bank spokesperson said Next and Allpoint were the two independent providers. Basoma said private ATMs were regulated by the Reserve Bank and Payments NZ.

Summary: A family from Methven, New Zealand is desperately searching for a cure for their young son, Otávio, who suffers from a painful skin condition known as Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome (TSWS). The three-year-old’s eczema rashes have been exacerbated by the overuse of steroid creams, and he now experiences intense burning and stinging sensations on his skin. Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition that affects one in three New Zealanders at some point in their lives. Topical steroid creams are often used, but skincare experts recommend using them for short periods to avoid dependency. There is a sea change happening in the wider electorate which is counter intuitive to what the polls are saying. The electorate is wanting fairer taxes and have the free-loading rich pay much more. After six years of brutal Labour policies under David Lange and Roger Douglas the electorate had had a gutsful. These tax changes the electorate wants won’t impact the 99% of voters who go to the polls. Labour’s failure means we will have to face three years of awful National/Act policies which will deepen the problems we face.

The housing market appears to have had a fairly quiet start to the spring selling season with new listings, stock levels and average asking prices all rising slightly compared to August. Property website Realestate.co.nz received 7812 new residential listings in September, up from 7444 in August (+4.9%) and barely changed from the 7881 (-0.9%) it received in September last year. There was the lowest ever number of new listings for the month of September in nine regions last month: Waikato, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu/Whanganui, Wellington, Wairarapa, Central Otago/Lakes, Otago and Southland. "What's interesting this year is that we are seeing a softer start to spring than expected," Realestate.co.nz spokesperson Vanessa Williams said. "The election, suspected post-election Reserve Bank movements, and interest rate rises, appear to be dampening the influx of new listings that warmer weather usually brings to market," she said.

Photos: suppliedYou’ll have heard that we can help to slow down climate change if we don’t eat as much beef. Dairy and beef operations do produce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses, but methane is one of the real baddies. Here in Aotearoa New Zealand, the focus is on Asparagopsis armata, a red seaweed native to New Zealand and Australia. We would have to grow tonnes and tonnes of Asparagopsis, and in fact a number of companies have sprung up hoping to do just that. Animals in the rest of the world live in barns and eat dry food, but here our cows eat grass outside.

Until last week’s Newshub leaders’ debate, Hipkins had been running what commentators had described as a lacklustre and inspiration-free campaign. So much was hinging on Tuesday’s The Press Leaders’ Debate which sits just three days into Hipkins’, now-unmandated but recommended, five day isolation period. Stuff Limited, which owns The Press and Stuff, is working through contingency plans including alternative dates for the all-important campaign fixture. (File / Whakaata Māori)In 2022, Australian opposition leader Anthony Albanese got Covid just one week into the election campaign. A bit like Hipkins’ rally after the Newshub leaders debate, Albanese had just been staging a comeback and regaining momentum after a strong, winning debate performance.

Rescue personnel check buildings for victims trapped in heavy flooding in the New York City suburb of Mamaroneck. New York Governor Kathy Hochul warned of "life-threatening" floods and declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley. Systems producing intense rainfalls such as Friday's have become more common in many parts of the US, including the New York City area. That storm soaked New York City and caused widespread power outages in North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In New York, intermittent rain this week further saturated the ground, setting up conditions conducive to flash flooding.
