Roscommon senior hurling manager, Brian Hanley, has appealed to Roscommon hurling clubs to offer more support to their own players in the aftermath of his side’s ten-point defeat against Donegal at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park. "I went around to every club, they didn’t get on board, they didn’t come in, and they didn’t support that. “We have won league games with full Roscommon players on the team. The manager also claimed that, like his predecessors, it was proving extremely difficult to get the county’s best hurling players to commit to the cause. "The most disappointing thing is the amount of people you contact that are supposed to be good players that won’t come in and play for Roscommon.

Yet despite being one of the world's most elusive fugitives, Christy Kinahan hid in plain sight in Dubai doing something astonishingly mundane... posting Google reviews and travel tidbits. In March 2023 a review attributed to 'Christopher Vincent' appeared for Cycle Bistro in the plush Jumeirah district. In another, Kinahan, born to middle-class Irish parents in Perivale, west London, appeared irritated after a waitress called him 'boss'. However, the Daily Mail recently reveal that the Kinahans' seemingly carefree existence in the Gulf may soon be under threat, as the war in Iran heaps fresh pressure on the emirate. At the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) Alliance Annual Conference 2026, President of the Haematology Society of Ireland Dr Amjad Hayat spoke with the Medical Independent (MI) about his thoughts on the event, the state of play with haematology in Ireland, and other relevant topics. He began by lauding the selection of speakers and range of topics for the conference, which he described as “amazing”. “I am from an era when we used to have one meeting per year about haematology, but in general, groups were working independently, and all the physicians were working independently,” he said. “Historically, 30 years ago for example, if any drug was available, you could write it [prescription] in Ireland. Our patients don’t get the treatment that the majority of the developed world would typically be getting.”It is also important to acknowledge the role of industry in helping to facilitate important meetings of this kind, Dr Hayat commented.
