Fingal County Council issued an enforcement order seeking removal of the glass-fronted double extension in 2020. He first received an enforcement notice from Fingal County Council in March 2020, ordering him to remove it within four months. It’s raw, isn’t it.”However, he says his case is different, claiming he has “followed from day one the dictates and the requests of the county council”. I simply can’t.”Fingal County Council was contacted for comment on Farrelly’s claims and his appeal. “As the matter remains before the courts, Fingal County Council has no further comment to make,” a spokesman said.

The Ashford Motors founder and owner arrived here from Somalia as a refugee with her mother, escaping the war in that country. That’s the conservative estimate.”The mother ship in Ashford is focused on high-end cars while the Rathnew site, called Ashford Approved, is targeted more at the entry-level car buyer. Adan sold that car directly only after a bad experience with a dealership when looking for a trade-in. Earlier this year, she reopened the Rathnew site under the name Ashford Approved. As we’d built such a big platform, we had a big following but we had nothing at the Ashford site in their budget.

Photograph: Cristina Quickler/AFP via Getty ImagesNew coastal defences and “emergency evacuation processes” are needed to prepare Ireland for the worst consequences of climate change, an Irish expert has warned. Prof Iris Moller, a coastal geomorphologist at Trinity College Dublin, said protections for communities were needed “urgently”. For island nations such as Ireland and coastal communities globally, the implications are enormous. [ Expect more extreme weather as climate change impact now ‘stark’, says Met ÉireannOpens in new window ]The report says all indicators of climate change are moving in the wrong direction. Moller said previous projections of sea-level rise to the end of this century – a further 26cm-77cm – would probably be exceeded.

I realised in that moment that screens could have a frighteningly deadening effect, nullifying my child into a stunned torpor. We introduced a ban on television and screens for a month. Too often, the debate around screens and children revolves around how devious children become to take advantage of these devices. TV isn’t bad for kids in and of itself. While it certainly isn’t always easy, the rewards from the ban on screens has been enormous.

“I’ve a feeling she’ll have a PB in the shot put, there’s deffo room for improvement there technique-wise.”She wasn’t wrong. The long jump, though, started iffily, an X beside her name after her first attempt, which we took as a bad thing. “She doesn’t want to end up with a third eyeballs effort,” our commentator said as she wound up for her second try. The gist: O’Connor could win gold, silver, bronze or nothing at all after the final event, the 800m. That O’Connor wore a bit of a “meh” expression after taking bronze was a fair indication of the loftiness of her own demands on herself after last year’s rather wondrous exploits.

It also gave us a miserly housing output of circa 10,000 units, rising to 21,000 by 2019. The list included Rebuilding Ireland, Rent Pressure Zones, Strategic Housing Developments (SHD), Land Development Agency (LDA), Build to Rent, co-living and cost rental, among an ever-growing collection of policy initiatives. [ Ireland’s plans to deliver housing and infrastructure are a roll of the diceOpens in new window ]The first half of the decade since 2016 was defined by policy experimentation. This year, 2026, presents a genuine opportunity to turn the corner on a decade of underachievement. That will give us confidence and momentum, and show that after a decade of experimentation, shocks and intervention, we are back on track.

The evidence is that psychotropic medication, when considered in the context of the woman’s mental illness, her physical health conditions and family medical history, amounts to “life-sustaining” treatment. All those factors mean a risk to the woman’s life if she is not treated with the medications, counsel said. A core issue before Judge Conor Dignam is whether, in light of the woman’s AHD, the psychotropic treatment is permissible. The case, to which the Mental Health Commission is a notice party, raises significant issues about the interaction of mental health legislation and the 2015 Act and has potentially far-reaching implications. The court heard the legal compellability of an AHD depends on what provision of the Mental Health Act under which a person is involuntarily detained.

The Gunners beat Chelsea in the last four to make the final and Arteta didn't hide the pain after coming within 90 minutes of success.

Earth is being pushed “beyond its limits” and “every key climate indicator is flashing red”, the UN secretary-general has said, as data showed the last 11 years have been the hottest ever recorded. “Humanity has just endured the 11 hottest years on record,” UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres said. Under stable conditions, incoming energy from the sun is about the same as the energy that leaves. As a result, such rapid large-scale changes to the planet’s climate are having “cascading” impacts on human and natural systems. Extreme river and coastal flooding“Storm Chandra in February showed us the consequences of intense rainfall on a highly modified landscape.

Ireland’s Kate O’Connor in action in the Pentathlon 60m Hurdles at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. O’Connor won silver at these championships last year, then added another silver behind Hall in the heptathlon at the World Championships in Torun. Her 2:06.32 was also an indoor best. The 23-year-old Dokter nailed fifth in 2:12.27, still plenty enough to take gold, upsetting Hall on this occasion. Shortly before, in the high jump, O’Connor had first moved herself into the bronze medal position after the opening two events, a critical clearance at her third attempt at 1.81m keeping her in contention for a podium position.

Attacks on Ukrainian healthcare centres and hospitals by Russian forces have increased in frequency and intensity, which makes medical aid delivered from Ireland all the more crucial. Irish volunteer Stephen ‘Sammy’ Byrne has been part of regular medical aid deliveries to Ukraine since 2022, as the founder of the not-for-profit foundation, the Peace Bridge Foundation. Some of the consignment of medical supplies went to a disability centre, while other equipment was delivered to an amputee rehabilitation centre. Ukrainian Action in IrelandIn 2022, Ukrainian Action in Ireland was formed to help refugees here, but over time, this has also evolved into arranging medical aid for Ukraine. This was sent as part of an ongoing agreement with Gurtom Charity Ukraine on behalf of the Ukrainian health ministry.
