We know Guardiola and this City team are very, very good at winning trophies. For the middle period they looked like a team in the grip of a collective amnesia. And when their own narrow range of variations fails all you really see are the absences in this Arsenal team. Forward, left, left, left, back, left stop. This Arsenal team have, at the very least, become deeply, unavoidably watchable.

The number of cases of meningitis linked to an outbreak in Kent has dropped as a campaign to vaccinate thousands of young people continued into a fourth day. Meanwhile, suspected cases under investigation have also fallen from 11 to nine, meaning the total number of cases is 29, down from 34 on Saturday. Nineteen of the 20 confirmed cases are meningitis B, and all cases have required hospital admission. The UKHSA said it expects more cases to be downgraded in the coming days as further laboratory assessments are completed. They are 18-year-old Juliette Kenny, who was described by her family as “fit, healthy and strong” before her death, and a University of Kent student.

Britain's 'most lucrative' bus lane which rakes in £4,200 a day from drivers has been revealed. The Corporation Street bus gate in Preston, Lancashire issues a whopping 47,176 penalties a year - 13,000 more than any other in the country. The issue is compounded by the fact that Friargate - which runs parallel to the bus gate - is a pedestrianised zone. Around half of the appeals against bus lane PCNs (Penalty Charge Notices) across the country are refused. 'Feedback from bus operators following the introduction of the bus gate has been positive.

The fourth week of incessant rocket attacks has taken its toll and there is still no end in sight. Sirens are random but go off every few hours, depending on where you live, night and day. It seems that Iran has worked out the formula for wearing down the Israeli civilian population. In the first two days of the war, Iran launched about 100 missiles towards Israel. A war-weary, jittery nation tries to maintain a semblance of normalcy among all this, repeating the mantra that maybe, just maybe, if this conflict leads to regime change in Iran, Israel may finally know some quiet.

Jim Goodwin said skipper Ross Graham epitomised Dundee United’s performance against Celtic as he bounced back in style from a calamitous end to last weekend’s derby. But lifelong United fan Graham impressed as the team beat Celtic at Tannadice for the second time this season. ‘Ross Graham was devastated last week,’ said the manager. You know Celtic are going to have plenty of possession, but they never really carved us open. We forced (Viljami) Sinisalo to go long quite regularly and my three centre-halves competed really well.

Photograph: Amit Elkayam/The New York TimesThe Middle East energy wars are on the cusp of a dangerous escalation, with potentially catastrophic consequences. Iran has responded to president Donald Trump’s 48-hour ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping with a series of counter threats. Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that critical infrastructure and energy facilities in the Middle East could be “irreversibly destroyed” if the US attacks Iranian power plants. The crisis surrounding Iran’s chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz has created a global economic crisis, causing surging energy prices across the world. More than 1,500 people have been killed in Iran since the war began three weeks ago, state broadcaster IRIB reported on Saturday.

Lyons and Cronin were both struck by the amount of plastic waste dumped in Arusha’s streets and rivers and decided to do something about it. Their first product – made on their veranda – was a pouffe, stitched together with recycled fabric and stuffed with shredded waste plastic collected on the streets. Since then, they have recycled 900 tonnes of plastic waste, and the business has grown to include eye-catching and stylish bespoke furniture, while also providing employment and education. Dunia Designs uses plastic waste to make furniture and decking in Tanzania. Dublin manager Ger Brennan had no complaints after he was sent off for his part in a half-time clash during his side’s defeat against Galway. Brennan was involved in a clash with Galway strength and conditioning coach Cian Breathnach McGinn as the teams made their way off at half-time. “Look, myself and one of the Galway mentors, a small coming together, silly stuff from us,” said Brennan post-match. There was a moment’s silence for the Galway man before throw-in. A great GAA man, a lovely natured man, a great character.

Read more ElleThis week, I met a lovely couple who had decided to visit Rum based purely off reading this magazine. They told me they like to coorie up on a Sunday morning, stick Love Songs on Radio 2 (me too! For my husband, this means longer hours at the Bunkhouse, and a noticeable absence from home. Because motherhood, at least for me right now, is not something I can neatly package into a single reflection or a well-timed column. And it’s more than I could have ever hoped it would be.

It is in their hands,” he told Sky Sports. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta defended his decision to keep faith with Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has played in the League Cup this season, after the Spaniard’s mistake led to the first of O’Reilly’s two goals. It was the mistake that made you say, ‘That’s a number two’,” Wright told Sky Sports. Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp was even more critical and said Arteta had to take responsibility. “Kepa is not as good as (David) Raya, that’s why he is number two,” he said.
