Chelsea sweep past Armenian minnows Noah with merciless eight-goal displayBy Robert O'Connor, PAChelsea swept past Armenian side Noah as Enzo Maresca’s second string turned in a merciless attacking display to win 8-0 at Stamford Bridge. Christopher Nkunku scored twice after the break, one of them a penalty, to cement his spot at the head of Chelsea’s scoring charts. That made it four goals in a blitzkrieg nine-minute spell, a signal for Chelsea briefly to pull back. Felix’s drive may have been going wide before captain Hovhannes Hambartsumyan swung a leg and diverted it into the corner for 6-0. He was denied twice in the second half, first by Chancharevich then by the crossbar as he sought his ninth of the campaign.

“We probably didn’t play up to the standards we set for ourselves throughout the year, but after a tough week, I suppose it was to be expected. We won the county final on Monday and that was after a replay the week before so, we’ve been on the road the last three weeks. You could probably see that there in the lads, especially in the first half, but our bench made a huge difference,” he said. "We’ve been on a run before, in senior, through Leinster, and it’s a pretty huge boost for fans and for the club, everyone involved. Another two-hour journey down after the week we’ve had, it can be tough.

At least half of the four Cork East seats will be filled by new representatives after this election, as two long-standing TDs have opted not to stand this time around. Sinn Féin’s Pat Buckley is attempting to secure his third term as a TD for Cork East after his poll-topping performance in 2020 while Fianna Fáil’s James O’Connor, aged just 27, will be hoping to retain his seat for the first time. With two of the constituency’s seats not held by incumbents, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil will both be hoping to get two representatives elected. Health and housing will be two of the major issues on the minds of Cork East voters. Difficulty accessing GP and out-of-hours services in the constituency has been highlighted while there is demand for affordable housing.

She said pain and a limp are a constant feature for Mr O’Donovan and the injury has had a profound effect on him. Ms O'Sullivan said he could get a robotic lawnmower and sit on a deck chair and watch and he didn’t need to pay a person to come and cut the lawn. Mr Flynn claimed the match date had been listed on the FAI website for about five months at that stage. Tommy Fleetwood equals course record to lead after first round in Abu DhabiBy Phil Casey, PA Golf CorrespondentTommy Fleetwood carded a course record-equalling 62 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre was another stroke back following a 64, with Rory McIlroy carding a 67. Beautiful pace control and hit a lot of good putts and started holing them. Started well with the win in Dubai and I’ve let a couple slip away as well. But I’ve had a great deal of consistency, and that’s the reason that I find myself in the place that I am.

State agencies ‘far removed from the Borg’, Donohoe saysBy Cillian Sherlock, PAThe Irish civil service is nothing like “the Borg”, the Minister for Public Expenditure has said. Paschal Donohoe said he would be cautious about opening up more State agencies, saying that there will be no such proposals in the Fine Gael election manifesto. He was answering a question about whether he would like to see a reduction in the number of State agencies, which a reporter described as an unaccountable “Borg-like blob”. The Borg are the alien cyborg race villains featured in the Star Trek universe, which operate as a hivemind. Mr Donohoe said: “I know who the Borg are and the agencies that we’re talking about are as far removed from the Borg as you can imagine, and they are highly accountable.”He said he believed it was important that existing agencies can show they are delivering against their mandate and using taxpayers’ money well.
