Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was left less than impressed by Rayan Cherki's showboating during his side's Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal. But Cherki, starting the game in the capital, took it upon himself to have some fun on the day. But, without the ball hitting the ground, Cherki performed three kick ups, much to the amusement of the Manchester City faithful. Television cameras cut to the City boss shaking his head, and he appeared to give him a sarcastic telling off when substituting his star late on. The forward passed the ball off before either Arsenal man could get too close, but was clattered by White soon after.

Harvey Barnes is being called up by England manager Thomas Tuchel as the Newcastle United winger gets his chance in his expanded pre-World Cup squad. Barnes, 28, snubbed a call-up from Scotland after Steve Clarke tried to move for him. Barnes, who has 14 goals this season, played 76 minutes of Sunday's 2-1 derby defeat by Sunderland. Tuchel is using the upcoming games against Colombia and Japan to test a number of fringe players who he says can 'win plane tickets' to the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer. 'This time I can say for sure, Harvey's going to concentrate on trying to play for England, he's not going to come to Scotland.'

John Cleary believes his group were not as prepared to go up to Division 1 in previous years. Because there was an awful lot of hard work that's been put in there in the last three years. And it would have been a big blow to us if we hadn't come out with a victory here today. “The big thing where I've been successful is putting a very good backroom team together. “Even when the draw was made, we had two trips up the north, a trip to Louth, a trip to Offaly.

Road signs damaged by Storm Éowyn last year are sending tourists and motorists in the wrong direction, a senator has claimed. Another impact, according to Fine Gael senator Gareth Scahill, is that road signs have been left pointing in the wrong direction. “This extends beyond storm damage, with road signs suffering from poor maintenance with many obscured and difficult to read,” Mr Scahill added“There’s another busy tourism season coming this summer, and it is essential that signs are visible, legible, and pointing in the right direction. “Faded road markings are becoming a serious hazard, particularly at night and during poor weather. This can include repairs to damaged or displaced road signs.”The department said that the expected lifespan of road signs is in the order of 15-20 years, with warranties on retroreflective sign-face materials generally extended to 12 years.
