Scientists have long suspected their presence in bottled water, but lacked the technology to identify individual nanoparticles. If any of those are also nanoplastics, the prevalence of plastic in bottled water could be even higher. A study published in 2022 found that the concentration of microplastics in bottled water was higher than in tap water. The co-authors of the latest study say their research won’t stop at bottled water.

Onion prices have dropped significantly in Indian retail markets since the federal government banned the export of those produce around a month ago. Across the country, the average retail price of onion is around Rs 30-40 per kg. Retail onion prices in Maharashtra, during the first week of December, were in the range of Rs 52-55 per kg. In Delhi, onions are selling at Rs 40 per kg as against Rs 60 per kg a month ago.
