GST has almost addressed long-pending issue of tax avoidance, says officer
Terming Goods and Services Tax (GST) an important milestone in the history of India’s tax regime, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Tax Mahesh Patil has said that the new system has revolutionised the very tax collection system in the country. Diminished tax collection naturally affects a country’s development. However, GST has almost addressed this long-pending issue of tax avoidance,” Mr. Patil said. Affirming the distinction “between being non-West and anti-West”, Jaishankar said he would “characterise India as a country which is non-West but which has an extremely strong relation with the Western countries, getting better by the days”. While Russia and China might want to mobilise the BRICS against the West, Jaishankar said India had no interest in such an agenda. Mitsubishi to pick up 32% in TVS Mobility’s new arm
TVS Mobility and Japan-based Mitsubishi Corp are to enter into an agreement under which Mitsubishi Corp will pick up close to one-third stake in a new company, a spin-off of the business of the former. “Mitsubishi Corporation has agreed to subscribe to shares (about 32%) in TVS Vehicle Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd (TVS VMS) through private placement. The completion of these transactions is subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities, the Japanese company said a statement. This investment is intended to develop comprehensive mobility solutions spanning not only after-sales services and multi-brand sales, but also leasing and other automotive operations by utilising the extensive customer base and digital technology of TVS Mobility’s arm, it addedMitsubishi had invested in TVS Automobile Solutions (TASL), a network of roughly 700 service centres, and partnerships with 16,000 retailers of wholesale auto parts connected through digital technology.

Bitcoin may surpass $60k mark soon, say experts

They say there is increased buying pressure among crypto investors in anticipation of halving event in April. Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead, CoinSwitch Ventures said both demand and supply side factors are having a direct impact on prices, sending Bitcoin to price levels that it achieved in 2021. However, in 2023, Bitcoin’s price surged by more than 125%, primarily in anticipation of the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs (exchange- traded funds) in the US. “The approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs has led to increased institutional interest, with the offerings from BlackRock and Fidelity already amassing more than $5 billion and $4 billion in Bitcoin AUMs.
