GhanaWeb's checks in the district revealed most of the communities in the area lack basic social amenities such as health, educational facilities and public places of convenience. Residents speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb indicated that the absence of public toilet facilities leaves them with no other options than to defecate in the bushes. "We face a lot of challenges when it comes to issues related to health, water and access to toilet facilities. We are therefore appealing to the government to help build a toilet facility for us,” Nana Ama Serwaa appealed.

According to Secretary-General Wamkele Mene, the fund is an adjustment that will help build competitiveness among the countries as stipulated in the trade pact. Speaking to Accra-based JoyNews in an interview closely monitored by GhanaWeb, he said the initiative is part of efforts to support member countries come up with innovative ways to position Africa on the map and enhance competitiveness among the member states. “Well in the next six months, we should look out for an establishment of an AfCFTA business forum focusing on small medium enterprises to create connectivity for small medium enterprises, we should also look out for a launch of an AfCFTA adjustment fund of about one billion dollars which help countries that needs to adjust to the new competition that is to be presented by the AfCFTA,” he said. He also said special payment systems will be introduced to reduce the cost of converting currencies. Meanwhile, speaking on the way forward and how goods are moved across borders, Mr Mene said he is excited that Ghana, among other African countries, has custom procedures that allow free trade of goods.

ExxonMobil pulled out of its deep-water oil prospecting operation just two years after Ghana ratified an exploration and production agreement with the company. The company relinquished the entirety of its stake in the Deep-water Cape Three Points block and resigned as its operator after fulfilling its contractual obligations during the initial exploration period, according to a letter to the government of Ghana. In an interview with media at Goil's Annual General Meeting in Accra, Mr Osei-Prempeh said the likelihood of the country getting more shares in the new investment is high. So as at now, GNPC has assured us that people are knocking on their doors so now that Exxon is out that doesn’t mean their investments are gone. The work done so far included processing about 2,200 square kilometers (850 square miles) of seismic data, but Exxon didn’t drill any exploratory wells.
