Entertainment of Thursday, 1 July 2021Source: www.ghanaweb.comOne can recall that exactly a year ago in 2019, Uncle Ebo Whyte established that the government was not obliged to provide for the creative arts sector. He stated at that time that no government can change the fortunes of the Creative Arts industry and as such industry players must come to terms with it. “As for me, my stand has always been that it is not the responsibility of the government to develop the creative industry because we need to challenge ourselves. Ebo Whyte said his argument was not to discredit the many who held a contrary opinion but a challenge for them to work harder. That is far from it because it didn’t take me a day to get here and be the Ebo Whyte everyone knows today.

He said, “In the spirit of peace and harmony, I further urge Muslims in Ejura and surrounding areas to desist from any act that may inflame passion among the Muslim youth.”Furthermore, the Chief Imam said, “I call on the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that in the end, justice becomes the winner.”“Finally, I pray for Allah’s perpetual mercy on the departed souls.”His call for peace dovetails into a similar call by the National Peace Council. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Rev Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi, the council expressed “grave concern that three Ghanaians have lost their lives,” in the recent disturbances in Ejura, Ashanti Region. “The council condemns this unfortunate incident and calls on the relevant agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the matter without delay,” the statement from the Peace Council said.

According to the journalist, his observations only trumpet the popular assertions of other colleagues of his in the industry. From my independent observation and interactions with colleague journalists, however, there appears to be overwhelming concern among journalists that Akufo-Addo’s government is about the hostile journalists and critics. The government appears very intolerant and there appears to be a coordinated attempt to crush those who speak up. My candid view is that the Mahama government was more accommodating of criticism, no matter how scathing, than what we are experiencing now. I was one of the most critical journalists of that regime so I know what I’m talking about.

The level of nudity in the video raised eyebrows and the act was condemned by Ghanaians who believe the Ghanaian culture frowns against such acts. His career dwindled following the release of the music video and this according to him was because he had a difficult time convincing Ghanaians to shift their attention to his other wonderful songs. Today, I can boldly say that my past is totally forgotten and all I get is the encouragement to continue doing those wonderful songs,” he added. Lord Paper was nominated for Record of the Year and Best New Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2020. In 2019, his Dzigbordi song was nominated for Best Music Video at the 4Syte Music Video Awards.
