Let’s respect ourselves - Naa Odofoley Nortey to GFA after Phar Rangers 5-year ban
The GFA Disciplinary Committee on June 30th handed Phar Rangers a punishment after their initial decision to withdraw from all GFA organized football activities. But reacting to sanctions by the GFA Disciplinary Committee, Ms Naa Odofoley Nortey argued that the punishment was too harsh. According to her, Phar Rangers could only be expelled from Ghana Football by congress hence the GFA should respect themselves. Three highway robbers sentenced to a total of 210 years in jail

His Lordship Justice Alexander Graham who presided over the case sentenced the three robbers to 70 years in jail each. He said, “robbery is on [a] high in Techiman and it’s becoming a lucrative business to those engaging in it. According to Mr. Kudorlor, one driver, James Annane, was able to drive across the blockade mounted by the robbers and made a distress call to police nearby and a swift search team was assigned to search for the robbers. The police team arrested the robbers a day after the robbery incident.

It has not been easy relocating the traders as some expressed concerns that the Adjen Kotoku market is too small to accommodate all five groups of onion sellers. Some onion sellers who spoke to the media insisted they will not be going to the Adjen Kotoku market because, “the place is too small for us, we are five groups and one group is more than a thousand people”. Meanwhile, all onion trucks have been directed by the Ga West Municipal Assembly not to go to the Agbogbloshie Market again but rather, the Adjen Kotoku Market effective July 1, 2021.

The latest to join the group of persons adding their voice to the subject is Nana Aba who finds it unacceptable that these Christian leaders have refused to address the issue. “The Christian Council of Ghana is the biggest disappointment. Meanwhile, scores of individuals including civil society organizations and the opposition National Democratic congress have openly condemned the shooting incident. Using live bullets to disperse crowd unwarranted – Security Analyst
He attributed the move to the commander on duty losing control of his men in handling the crowd. "When you look at the video making rounds, you will realize that there was a water van which wasn’t used, rather they resorted to firing live ammunition. That is unwarranted and disproportional,” he said in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Amos Ekow Coffie. “When protestors go the extra mile to become an extreme threat to the safety of the security personnel and innocent people around, that’s when the live bullets are used sometimes, but not in these circumstances. He is also calling for a thorough investigation to be carried out to ascertain what informed the decision to use live bullets to disperse the crowd.

Angry Abuakwa residents warn contractor, government over delayed road project
The suffering of school children, civil servants, businessmen and women, market women, traders and drivers are immeasurable due to the road network. According to the angry residents, users of the road get stuck in traffic for over two hours on a journey that should have taken just fifteen minutes. We are not going to tolerate this behavior from the Chinese company, China Geo Construction Limited any longer. If they are not ready to asphalt the road, we are going to spit pure red to demonstrate our worries," said a resident. GhanaWeb's visit confirmed that some stores, shops and businesses around the road had been shut down due to the unbearable dust on the road.

Police arrest brother of murdered activist Macho Kaaka
Class FM reports that Iddi Mohammed who is an elder brother of the deceased campaigner was arrested today, June 30, 2021. The report cites another brother with the name Maawuya Ibrahim as the one who confirmed the arrest of Iddi Mohammed. He said Iddi Mohammed is currently in the grips of the police, assisting in investigations. The arrest of Iddi Mohammed brings to three the number of people who have so far been apprehended by the police in connection with the mob attack on the late Ibrahim Mohammed.
