According to the Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Efia Tenge, the food was presented to the prisoner by a 23-year-old with a Nigerian accent at about 4:45pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021. She stated that the police officer on duty, after receiving the food and thorough checks, identified the weapons and foiled the attempts by the lady to smuggle them to the prisoner. The 23-year-old who presented the food managed to flee the scene. But DSP Efia Tenge said measures have been put in place to trace and arrest her.

The mathematical sets, according to reports was to be procured by M/S Bluegrass Group Limited. The 835,009 instruments were estimated at a cost of GH¢63.975 million. It is, however, unclear if final year students who sat for the exams in 2020 received the mathematical sets. He made this statement on the back of the 'Kum Yen Preko' demo organized in 2019 by his party in Accra to register their displeasure against the “hardship and oppression” in the country. Mr Gyamfi noted that: “It seems the only thing that moves this government is demonstration…immediately drivers decided to join 'kum yen preko' to protest against the luxury tax…Finance minister announced that the luxury tax will be reviewed. The same thing applies to Menzgold issue." Participants of the protest cited unbearable economic hardship and oppression experienced under the current Akufo-Addo administration as reasons for the demonstration. Joining the pressure group for the protest march were the Minority Caucus in Parliament, the Greater Accra Market Women Association and Head Potters Association.

According to the agency’s latest monthly report, demand for oil is also expected to increase by a further 3 million barrels per day in 2022. Despite this, the IEA has warned that global oil markets are likely to remain volatile following a breakdown in talks between OPEC members and their non-OPEC allies. “Oil markets are likely to remain volatile until there is clarity on OPEC+ production policy. And volatility does not help ensure orderly and secure energy transitions — nor is it in the interest of either producers or consumers,” the IEA said.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the board members when approved will pave the way for the Bank to commence its full operations which is expected to take place by the end of July this year. Director of Financial Services at the Finance Ministry, Samson Akligoh had earlier assured the establishment of the Development Bank Ghana will complement the capacity of the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB). Plans to establish the DBG commenced after Ghana secured a €170 million loan facility from the European Commission back in May this year. Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta interacting with journalists after the signing of the agreement explained the loan secured was to be paid in some 15 years. The Development Bank Ghana will serve as a wholesale entity that will offer guarantee investment instruments in order to woo in universal banks to lend to critical growth sectors.

Sahadatu Hudu before her testimony inquired from the committee members if they have been granted authority to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of her husband. The committee members told her that their terms of reference are to identify the events that led to the shooting and killing of two persons and make recommendations to government. “That is not the mandate of the committee,” Justice George Kingsley Koomson, the Court of Appeal judge on the committee told her. Sahadatu reiterated her position that, Macho Kaaka, was killed for political reasons contrary to reports that his brother orchestrated the act as a result of a family feud. “The one who testified against my husband’s brother saying that he might have killed my husband should also be called,” she stressed.

According to him, the Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, has approved the deployment of the US-made Pfizer and Moderna jabs in the country. We have added on over the last two weeks, we have added Pfizer and also Moderna to the list that we have. “Pfizer is about minus 25, Moderna is minus 18, so as I speak now we have deep freezers, ultra cold freezers that can store these vaccines,” he added. According to Dr Nsiah-Asare, the Biden-government considered Ghana as one of its priority nations and that, the jabs will help Ghana to roll out the second vaccine deployment phase. A little over 1.2 million vaccines have been received so far with some 860,000 vaccinations out of which only 400,742 persons have received first and second jabs.
