Despite his criticism on borrowing, Mr Cudjoe said results must be produced after borrowing, hence accountability. Speaking on The LowDown on GhanaWeb TV, Joseph Cudjoe said taking a loan is not a bad idea but how it is used after it has been granted is what could be problematic. “Loan itself is not a bad thing, it is what you take the loan for that make it problematic or not because I had an opportunity to take a loan and buy a house for $100,000, and one year later sells the house for $300,000 and pay interest for $30,000, it means from today and one year, I have a debt of $130,000. So, if I sell the house for $300,000 dollars, tell me it is not good to take a loan,” he said. He further stated that: “People are taking loans and generating wealth, very often people talk about Dangote and the rest do you know how much he owes?”Watch the full interview below

According to him, the rent laws must be enforced to lessen the burden tenants experience when in search of a space. In most cases, they are forced to pay 2 years rent advance, this is contrary to Ghana's Rent Control laws who states that landlords are not to charge beyond 6 months’ rent advance. Now he has increased the rent to 240gh without reason and he's demanding 2years advance.”In Dumelo’s response, wrote: “The rent laws don’t work. Enyo Nyo gè.”He however added: "Guys, don’t you also think that landlords take 1 or 2 yrs rent advance because they don’t trust tenants to pay on time if they(Landlords) were to take 6 months’ rent advance?"

It is not an idea of us being admonished to demonstrate that we love the people of this country. I will want to caution myself and caution my colleagues when the cameras are before you don’t try to play saint when the cameras are before you don’t try to pretend to be who you are not because we know the conduct of everybody and if we begin to question the conduct of people, I don’t think that is what the people of this country want.
