According to Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori, the complainant (Isaac Mensah) who is a motor rider, was hired by Daniel to transport him from Mile 5 to Agyeikrom. While on their way, the boy who was sitting behind the driver on the motor stabbed him at the back in an attempt to abscond with his bike. The okada driver struggled with the boy who upon realising that he was being overpowered, run into a nearby bush after being chased by the rider. The okada rider was sent to the Obuasi Government Hospital for treatment and has been discharged according to a report by GNA. The convict who pleaded guilty to robbery and causing harm unlawfully was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for stabbing the motor rider.

This was revealed in a speech read on his behalf at a stakeholders’ forum on Trade Facilitation and Road Governance at Paga in the Kassena –Nankana West District of the Upper East Region. This is due to many checkpoints mounted by the Police and Customs at Ghana’s transit corridors to neighbouring countries. These checkpoints have been identified as part of the major challenges facing trade facilitation and robbing the country of its economic resources. It was aimed at updating and sensitising the players in the trade and transport industries on the current development on the Ghana’s Northbound Transit corridor. The Tamale interchange records a total length of 1 kilometre bridge and ramps, and 5 kilometres of ancillary road works. In an update to President Akufo-Addo on the road construction progress, Alhaji Awudu indicated that out of 19 spans, 13 spans including the ramps have been completed, the report by Asaase Radio revealed. On the remaining six spans, he said work is currently ongoing noting that ancillary works, mainly asphalting, street lighting and road safety works are expected to be completed in the next three months. He also paid a visit to other road networks like the 100-kilometres of roads construction within the Northern, North East and Savannah Regions. The work which started in March 2021 is expected to be completed in September 2022, according to the contractor, M/S Queroz Galvao Konstruktion.

Now that’s triple.”“And then we went through the exercise to sort of titrate to see what we’ve got, and we got about 60,000 businesspeople who were not paying taxes,” he revealed. Some doctors [are not paying income tax] …so you begin to see all of these professionals, all of us on social media ranting against the government and [realise] that most of these people are not even paying taxes,” the finance minister stressed. Though there is still work to be in generating more revenue, Ken Ofori-Atta said the GRA is making changes to its structure in order to ensure these efforts yield results.
