TERESCO appeals for support to complete 'Fence Wall Project'

She said the college was using its IGF for the "Fence Wall Project" which was their most pressing need, adding that "the college's sources of IGF are limited and the project is quite costly". "We need an amount of GH¢750,000 to complete the project. She said the IGF also helped in procuring ceiling fans in all lecture halls, furnish lecture halls with gender-sensitive furniture, renovated the lecture halls, all halls of residence, and also provided floor tiles for every dormitory and all washrooms. She said the college management in collaboration with the current SRC recently fixed projectors in various lecture halls aimed at integrating ICT into teaching and learning as well as public address systems in large lecture halls.

UG students react to the postponement of academic activities
UTAG is on strike, demanding an increment in their basic and market premiums, pegged at $2,084.42, as agreed upon with the government in 2012. In a notice served by UTAG’s National Executive Committee, it said all academic activities were to be suspended, including the conduct and supervision of examinations, a decision which has left many students uncertain about the intended exams. Some students on the University of Ghana campus have exclusively shared with GhanaWeb, their views on the strike and the halt of all academic activities. Some level 100 students were excited about the strike, saying they now had ample time to study their syllabus and prepare properly for the exams. However, level 400 students were not so amused, indicating that they were restless and have no idea what they are doing.

Death of Speaker of Parliament's dispatch rider under investigation
The death of the police officer, who was part of the advance party of the Speaker that was going to the Ashanti Region ahead of an official visit, has since been under investigation by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, a report by citinewsroom.com has said. The police in Juaso, the report added, is investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the dispatch rider of the Speaker of Parliament. Some two others who were occupants of the private vehicle were also rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries from the crash. “We are currently gathering our evidence from the accident scene to know what exactly might have caused the accident. Also, he explained that as of now, the police do not have all the facts of the accident.

Refuse site, insanitary public toilet a health risk at Suma-Ahenkro

Coronavirus: Ghana unlikely to hit 60-70% of herd immunity – Ofori-Atta
Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community becomes immune to a certain disease. Ghana had initially planned to vaccinate some 20 million citizens by the end of October 2021 but the finance minister says government is unlikely to inoculate the entire population within the period. In an interaction with Accra-based, Asaase Radio, Ken Ofori-Atta outlined a number of factors as to why Ghana will be not able to achieve a certain percentage of herd immunity. This is a result of global shortages and the availability of enough vaccines on the market. According to the Ghana Health Service, only a little over a million citizens out of over a 30 million population have been vaccinated.

Primary school pupils opt for pool parties on 'Our Day' amid pandemic
Most of the pupils aged between 9 and 15 had these parties near the beach at Korle Gonno in Accra. The three beaches are Golden Beach Resort, Sunset beach and Nordsea beach. The pupils arrived at the venue in their uniforms but swam in their underwear and later left the venue in their uniforms. This has not been the norm of Our Day celebrations until recent times when pupils around the coast had to forgo their school and break protocols to be at the pool. Some of the pupils spotted at the poolside included those from Accra Royal Primary, Mamprobi Methodist, Mamprobi South, John Wesley, Kiddie Class among others.
