The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has entered into a content partnership agreement with AfricaWeb Holding; owners of GhanaWeb.com for the next three years. The partnership would see the GFA and AfricaWeb share ideas and compelling content intended to serve Ghanaians home and abroad in the best possible way. The GFA would by this partnership have multiple slots on all AfricaWeb platforms in Africa to strategically promote its content, sponsors and commercial partners. Mr. Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of GFA, at the signing of the agreement was elated with the partnership and looks forward to showcasing intriguing football content in coming months. In a recent interview with TV3, former President Mahama disclosed that the State had denied him most of his emoluments, such as utilities and travel expenses. According to him, the State duly fulfils its obligations to Mr Mahama, including paying for his foreign travels and holidays twice a year. “John Dramani Mahama is whining & telling lies about his emoluments. “So, if you travel on your own account to have fun, why should the State pay?” he wrote. “As John Dramani Mahama continues to whine about his emoluments, I ask: John Dramani Mahama, what did you do for the late President Atta-Mills?” Koku questioned.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has signed a book of condolence opened at the British High Commission in Accra for Queen Elizabeth II, the late British monarch. In a Twitter post on September 19, Mahama eulogized Queen Elizabeth II who reigned for seven decades. Executive Director of the Institute of Energy Security, Nana Amoasi III, has stated that Ghana may not benefit from the reduction in global fuel prices due to the depreciation. According to him, Ghana will continue to gain little or nothing from the reduction in fuel prices until the cedi begins to appreciate. “If the cedi continues on this tangent, then the Ghanaian consumers may not benefit from any price reduction on the international market. The Ghana Cedi is currently sold at GH¢10.51 at some forex bureaus in Accra. However, petrol and diesel are selling above GH¢11 and GH¢13 at various fuel pumps despite some reductions on the global market.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has touted the impact of government’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme on the lives of families amid an economic crunch. According to him, the programme has “lessened the burden on families” as the country experiences one of its worst economic meltdown. He said despite the economic crunch, the government continues to implement the Free SHS programme which has ultimately brought respite to families. “So we hope that sooner or later, the Ukraine crisis will abate and bring down energy prices for all of us. The government implemented the Free SHS programme in 2017 to eradicate financial barriers in accessing second cycle level education.

US-based economics professor Steve Hanke has rejected Databank Research’s projection that the cedi will stabilise against the dollar and other major currencies in the coming weeks.
