Government urged to expedite action on resolving UTAG, SSAG-UG strike action

We deem this as unacceptable, and condemnable in no uncertain terms,” the statement read in part. “This call is a necessity since students are on the major receiving end of the consequences of the strike action. It will have negative effects on the research works, presentations, quizzes, examinations, etc. Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed both UTAG and the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, to call off their strike action and appear before the Commission on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

ECG 'fights' GRIDCo's plans to sell power directly to industries
It is said the two power distribution institutions have since tabled their concerns to the Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. ECG is however said to owe GRIDCO GH¢1 billion. Unhappy with the lack of progress in paying the debt, JoyNews is learning Gridco decided to sell power to industries at a cheaper tariff than what ECG offers,” the portal wrote. Supreme Court orders Yaw Boakye to pay $2.5millon in unpaid rent to Osei Boakye Trust Fund

On March 17, 2021, the Osei Boakye Trust Fund and Most Rev Dr Robert Aboagye Mensah, Most Rev Dr Joseph Osei Bonsu, Rt Rev Daniel Yinkah Sarfo filed a suit at the Supreme Court, praying the court to grant it certain reliefs. The agreement required Yaw Boakye to pay the cedi equivalent of $35,000 as monthly rent to the Trustees. The Supreme Court granted the application with the premise that "re-opening matters already settled" at the Supreme Court was in line with the public policy of discouraging endless litigation. "Anything otherwise may result in an untidy situation where lower courts will exercise the discretion whether the final orders of the Supreme Court referred for enforcement be carried out," the court ruled.
