It is great to pursue digitalization, but a shoddy approach to tech deployment is a bigger threat than not having tech at all. On Monday, September 5, 2022, the Accra Circuit Court 9, presided by Samuel Bright Acquah, remanded a Chinese national, Aisha Huang, into custody. Responding to the above question, the then Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, said jailing Aisha Huang will not serve any interest to Ghana and Ghanaians citing Ghana’s good relationship with Ghana as one of the reasons. The main company that is helping develop the infrastructure system in Ghana is Sinohydro, it is a Chinese Company. It is the one that is going to help process our bauxite and provide about $2 billion to us. Putting [Aisha Huan] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your money problem. Based on the circumstance, the lead prosecutor, Chief Inspector Detective Frederick Sarpong, prayed to the court for an adjournment.

Economist and businessman, Dr Kofi Amoah, has implored the new breed of African leaders to emulate the strategy of the Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan) in order to break away from the continent’s dependency on the west which has not yielded many benefits to Africa. The Asian Tigers, according to Dr Amoah had fine trade and bilateral agreements with the west but ultimately the Asians only implemented what was in the best interest of their citizens. That is what he says has brought so much success to many of Asian countries. He said, the establishment of the IMFs, World Banks among others is part of a grand plan to maintain a stranglehold of Africa by the west. Dr Amoah says only a concerted effort to unite and unify the African continent, harnessing the natural resources of the countries therein to create strong economies can bring real and meaningful economic progress.
