The district level elections, spanning 6,215 electoral areas across 216 metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (excluding Nkoranza North and South in the Bono East Region), have drawn participation from over 66,000 individuals vying for positions in district assemblies and unit committees. Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused, the statement assured residents of the affected areas that the district level elections would proceed on Thursday, 21st December 2023. We assure the residents of the affected areas that the District Level Elections will be held on Thursday, the 21st of December, 2023."

He pushed for its suspension until a thorough investigation is done by the minority about possible mismanagement. Mr Jinapor said, “We do not believe that there is value for money, this contract is a rip-off, this contract only ends up filling the pockets of greedy politicians and individuals. When we go into it and find out that all those allegations are true, we will ensure that this contract is abrogated,” he added. John Jinapor mentioned that the delay could immensely endanger the hard-won economic gains the government has achieved.

As the district-level elections approach on Tuesday, December 19, the Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the polls. More than 66,000 candidates are vying for assembly and unit committee positions across 6,215 electoral areas. Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, provided assurance regarding the readiness of preparations for the elections. According to him, this is the first time in the country’s history that it has been able to negotiate 10% royalties in a minerals deal.

General News of Saturday, 16 December 2023Source: www.ghanaweb.comGhanaWeb has intercepted a letter from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, signed under the name of its minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, requesting for a masterplan towards the redevelopment of the Achimota Forest. “As you may be aware, by the Forests (Cessation of Forest Reserve) Instrument, 2022 (E.I. 144), as amended by the Forests (Cessation of Forest Reserve) (Amendment) Instrument, 2023 (E.I. 234), portions of the Achimota Forest, measuring approximately 260.06 acres or 105.25 hectares, ceased to be a forest reserve,” the statement signed by Abu Jinapor said. It will be recalled that the Achimota Forest became the center of a lot of discussions sometime in 2022, when it emerged that portions of the forest had been given out to private individuals.

So we need to establish that campaign of any kind, we need money. Once that is done, then we get into politics and we ask ourselves how much is too much when you are prosecuting a political campaign. That for me is how to deal with the possible corruption related to political campaign” he also stated.
