District level elections: EC reschedules polls in some areas in two regions

The district level elections, spanning 6,215 electoral areas across 216 metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (excluding Nkoranza North and South in the Bono East Region), have drawn participation from over 66,000 individuals vying for positions in district assemblies and unit committees. Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused, the statement assured residents of the affected areas that the district level elections would proceed on Thursday, 21st December 2023. Minority demands suspension of controversial 10-year contract with SML

Mr Jinapor said, “We do not believe that there is value for money, this contract is a rip-off, this contract only ends up filling the pockets of greedy politicians and individuals. When we go into it and find out that all those allegations are true, we will ensure that this contract is abrogated,” he added. It will be recalled that the Achimota Forest became the center of a lot of discussions sometime in 2022, when it emerged that portions of the forest had been given out to private individuals.
