53-year-old US-based Ghanaian security guard stabbed to death

Police intercept bus with over 1,000 rounds of ammunition

GTEC restores recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants

The commission withdrew the recognition of the institute after it (ICAG) published what it (GTEC) described as misleading information. In a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of the ICAG, Eric Oduro Osae, which was titled “Use of Unearned Doctorate,” GTEC pointed out that the restoration of the recognition was after the issue it raised was resolved. “The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) acknowledges the corrective measures taken by yourself and/or the Institute, as communicated in your letter dated 8 January 2026, to address the issues raised, including the rectification of misleading information previously published. Accordingly, with immediate effect, the recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) is hereby restored,” part of the statement read.

Millers in northern Ghana receive rice production boost from WFP

"Large scale rice fortification in most countries has proven to be an effective intervention to address micronutrient deficiencies in populations dependent on rice as a staple food. The WFP has supplied 123 metric tons of fortified rice to 208 private schools, reaching nearly 59,000 pupils and increasing enrolment in participating private schools by 7.9%. Previously, we used to prepare rice in the school, but since introducing fortified rice, we've seen a significant improvement in the students' overall health and performance."

TTH to get cardiac center under MahamaCares program

She added that, under the Mahama Cares program, cardiac catheterization centers will be established “at the center of the country and when I say the center, I mean Tamale, Komfo Anokye and Greater Accra. He said although the original plan for the project is a cardiac catheterization center (cath lab), it will be big enough to be converted into a full-time cardiac center as it is expected to be a two-storey structure, fully equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging equipment.

BoG targets UK diaspora to revive falling remittances
The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, revealed that remittances from the UK, historically a major corridor for Ghana, fell significantly in 2025. Data for January to September show UK inflows accounted for 17.5% of total remittances, a notable drop from 27.6% in the same period the previous year. “This proportion marks a decline compared to the corresponding period in 2024, when the UK corridor contributed 27.6 percent, equivalent to more than one quarter of total inflows. GIADEC secures strategic investors for VALCO modernisation and alumina refinery project
