Tomato farmers in Tuobodom in the Techiman North district of the Bono East Region are faced with low sales. Harvested tomatoes are going to waste as the farmers wait impatiently by the roadside for prospective buyers. According to the farmers, despite all their frantic efforts to meet the local demand for the consumption of tomatoes, sales are generally low. Most of them secured loans from the banks and other financial institutions at high-interest rates, but the current situation is likely to put them out of business. One affected farmer said that if the current situation persists, they will be unable to repay their loans and appealed to buyers to visit Tuobodom to purchase fresh and quality tomatoes.

In the capital of Accra, it has become characteristic that many areas get flooded after hours, sometimes minutes of heavy rainfall. After a cloudy morning with dark clouds taking over, the rains descended and with it came the floods. Social media as usual has been flooded with various videos taken by citizens to portray the situation in their neighbourhoods and residences. Whilst some buildings are half submerged, some major roads have been taken over and shops and markets have not been spared. Some hospitals have even been reportedly flooded after the heavy rains.

Consumers of petroleum products must brace themselves for another increase in fuel prices from Thursday, June 16, 2022. Data from the Bulk Oil Distribution Companies as reported by JoyBusiness suggests that the price of a litre of diesel is expected to go up by 11.14%, while petrol will go up 13%. Petrol prices are projected to go up by GH¢1.24/Litre which is an 11.41% increase and that of Diesel by GH¢1.43 /Litre also a 12.93% increase. Petrol at various fuel pumps is currently selling at about GH¢10.10 per litre, whereas diesel is going for GH¢12.20. This is due to the increasing cost of refinery despite a slight reduction in crude oil prices on the international market.
