A couple in Nashville, Tennessee, say they were rejected by a wedding venue after the owner realized they were gay. Mike Gill and Coty Heaton had inquired about getting married at Barn in the Bend, an event venue in Madison, Tennessee, and received an email from owner Jackie Daniel, who told the couple "we appreciate your interest in our venue" and that she'd "be glad to set up a tour." In that first email, Gill noticed that the email signature read: "We offer same-sex marriage ceremonies only." But an hour later, Daniel sent Gill another email to check the gender of his future spouse.

"Approximately in a year of owning your car, the average person, that electric vehicle has a smaller carbon footprint than a petroleum-fueled vehicle," Myrom explained. "This Saturday in Muskegon, the Farmers Market is hosting an electric car show. "And they've got a lot more capacity on them than they would in the middle of the day. MARLBOROUGH — Last fall, Marlborough striker Ava VanBuskirk got her first taste of high school soccer as a freshman. VanBuskirk finished her rookie campaign scoring seven goals in an abbreviated eight-game campaign. She has taken that role to heart, scoring a staggering 19 of her team's 21 total goals in the first seven games of the season, including scoring both Marlborough goals in Thursday night's win. Her breakout game came on Sept. 14 against Shepherd Hill in which she scored all seven goals in the Panthers' 7-2 victory. "She's good, she's quick and her speed definitely helps her get to the goals," Hudson girls soccer coach Spencer Fortwengeler said.

By Simon LewisWASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Paris next week after ties between the United States and France were strained when Australia scrapped a French submarine contract in favor of a pact with Washington and London last month. Blinken will be joined by U.S. climate envoy John Kerry, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai and other U.S. officials in Paris, Price said. Blinken will then head to Mexico for security talks next Friday. The United States, Australia and Britain on Sept. 15 announced a new security partnership for the Indo-Pacific region that would help Australia acquire U.S. nuclear-powered submarines and see it scrap its $40 billion deal to buy French-designed submarines. “The French have been very clear that they feel that trust has been disturbed,” Donfried said on a briefing call with reporters.

LONDON (Reuters) -Many British gas stations were still dry on Friday after a chaotic week that saw panic-buying, fights at the pumps and drivers hoarding fuel in water bottles after an acute shortage of truck drivers strained supply chains to breaking point. Ministers in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government have insisted for days that the crisis is abating or even over, but retailers said more than 2,000 gas stations were dry and Reuters reporters across London and southern England said dozens of pumps were still closed. Queues of often irate drivers snaked toward those gas stations that were still open in London. Ministers say the world is facing a global shortage of truck drivers and that they are working to ease the crisis. In addition to the chaos around gas stations, farmers are warning that a shortage of butchers and abattoir workers could force a cull of tens of thousands of pigs.

FRAMINGHAM — "Climate change" often conjures up dystopian images of smog-engulfed cities, rising oceans, crop failure and refugees fleeing extreme weather. Her experience as an FSU professor inspired her to take this kind of approach when teaching about climate change. A key concept in climate science, the term refers to a vicious or weak cycle that either speeds up or slows down a warming trend. While reading or teaching feedback loops, Singh said she realized feedback loops also pop up in "our very human social lives as well."
