MARLBOROUGH — Last fall, Marlborough striker Ava VanBuskirk got her first taste of high school soccer as a freshman. VanBuskirk finished her rookie campaign scoring seven goals in an abbreviated eight-game campaign. She has taken that role to heart, scoring a staggering 19 of her team's 21 total goals in the first seven games of the season, including scoring both Marlborough goals in Thursday night's win. Her breakout game came on Sept. 14 against Shepherd Hill in which she scored all seven goals in the Panthers' 7-2 victory. "She's good, she's quick and her speed definitely helps her get to the goals," Hudson girls soccer coach Spencer Fortwengeler said.
