What began as a fired-up eighth-inning rally had just devolved into a ninth-inning meltdown as Indiana won 10-5 by pummeling the NU bullpen for seven runs in the final frame. And another late loss in gruesome fashion left the Huskers without easy answers at the back end of games. “We really battled for eight innings, played a great game up until the top of the ninth there. NU appeared on the verge of a dramatic home victory when it broke a tie game with a two-run eighth. Then a rally and a meltdown within minutes of each other left the Huskers gazing ahead to their next chance.

Indiana then exploded for a six-run eighth inning which led the Hoosiers to a 9-5 comeback win over Nebraska in Friday’s Big Ten Tournament semifinal in Iowa City, Iowa. Nebraska (30-23) led for nearly the entirety of the game but surrendered nine consecutive runs as the game stretched on. With NU’s other main pitcher, Kaylin Kinney, limited due to injury, Harness pitched all 13 innings Nebraska played in the Big Ten Tournament. Indiana out-hit Nebraska 11-6 overall as Hoosier pitcher Sophie Kleiman allowed just four base hits over her seven-inning relief appearance. Without the opportunity to punch a ticket into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big Ten title game, Nebraska will now wait for Selection Sunday.
