Rain interrupts Bangladesh-Afghanistan ODI match again
The first game of the three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan was interrupted by rain again in Chattogram on Wednesday, according to local news portals. UNB report said Bangladesh has made three changes to their playing XI from their last ODI against Ireland. Ebadot Hossain, Rony Talukder, and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury have been replaced by Afif Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan, and Taskin Ahmed. Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh captain, has made it to the playing XI despite injury concerns. Afghanistan toured Bangladesh in June for a one-off Test match and has now returned for a three-match ODI and two-match T20 series.

Bangladesh to see scattered rain for another 7 days, says Met Office
Sunday night saw rains in different parts of Bangladesh after the longest heatwave in the country’s history. These scattered showers are likely to continue for the next seven days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. “On Monday, the Sylhet, Chattogram, Mymensingh, and Dhaka Divisions saw more rainfall,” said meteorologist Monowar Hosasin on Monday evening. “It is likely that scattered rainfall will continue across the country over the next seven days as well.”The day’s record for rain was Feni, which saw 107mm of rain in three hours, Monowar said. Parts of the country may also experience scattered hailstorms.

Pregnant woman, child killed during storm as tree crushes tin house in Kishoreganj
A pregnant woman and her son have died after a storm caused a tree to crash into their house in Kishoreganj’s Karimganj Upazila. The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday in Niamatpur village, according to Mizanur Rahman, chief of Karimganj Police Station. The dead were identified as Ruptara Begum, 45, and her son Taijul, 5. “Ruptara and her son Taijul were sleeping after dinner in their tin home,” OC Mizanur said. The bodies of the dead were buried in the afternoon and an unnatural death case was filed at the police station, OC Mizanur said.

Farmers get agri machineries at subsidized rate

"The government provided modern agricultural machineries to farmers to increase agricultural output and minimize costs of production," he told the House today, while responding to a question from Jatiya Party member Md Mujibul Hoque. The minister said modern agricultural machineries will help farmers to mitigate water crisis in Haor areas during the crop harvesting period, besides, farmers will be able to bring their crops at the warehouse within a short time. He said that the agriculture ministry's budget maintained a sector "Agriculture Rehabilitation Assistance" for continuing incentive activities and encourage the marginal and small farmers for yielding various crops side by side the agriculture rehabilitation activities.
