The deceased was identified as Kamruzzaman Shamim, 45, son of Golam RasulNantu, resident of the Shura village. He was a former vice-president ofHarinakundu upazila unit of Swechasebak League, is an associate body and thevolunteer wing of the Bangladesh Awami League. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Harinakundu Police Station Mahbubur Rahman saidthat a group of miscreants shot him while he was sitting on the bank of acanal adjacent to his home at around 8:30pm, leaving him critically injured. Locals rescued Shamim and rushed him to Harinakundu Upazila Health Complexwhere the on-duty doctor declared him dead, OC said.

A man has died after a bus veered out of control and slammed into a roadside electricity pole in Chattogram's Sitakunda. The dead man was identified as 30-year-old Ismail, the supervisor of the Saint Martin Paribahan bus, reports bdnews24.com. Three others were injured in the incident that took place in the upazila's Baraulia area around 5:40 am on Friday. They were subsequently rescued by Kumira Fire Station personnel, according to Abdur Razzak, deputy assistant director of the regional fire service. "Supervisor Ismail died on the spot when the bus hit an electricity pole," said Sub-Inspector Shah Alam of Baraulia Police Station.

A part-time teacher at the Omaha Street School has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse by a school employee after he allegedly instigated an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student, according to court documents. Though he is not accused of physical abuse, he allegedly took the student on outings and repeatedly messaged her on social media in a sexually suggestive manner. According to an arrest affidavit for Jones, he was hired at the Omaha Street School in August as a part-time instructor. On a separate occasion, Jones allegedly invited the girl to Topgolf under the guise of a school outing. A representative with the Omaha Street School did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Jones' employment status.

"Bangladesh is an important partner for the World Bank toward its vision of a world free of poverty on a livable planet. Since the country's independence, the World Bank and Bangladesh have had an impactful partnership that lifted millions of Bangladeshi people out of poverty," said Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan. It will help improve antenatal services for women, with a target of over 250,000 women receiving at least four checkups during pregnancy. The World Bank has been amongst the first development partners to support Bangladesh and has committed more than $40 billion in grants, interest-free, and concessional credits since the country's independence.
