Omaha's Maha Festival canceled; organizers cite cost increases and need to 'recalibrate'
The Maha Festival won’t happen this year. The nonprofit festival’s board of directors voted to cancel the 2024 music festival so it could rework its operating model. The 16th annual Maha had been set for this summer in the renovated Heartland of America Park on the riverfront. Organizers cited industrywide increases in costs for talent, transportation, labor, security and insurance. “We’re confident that taking this proactive step to recalibrate in 2024 will ensure Maha’s future vibrancy and long-term success.”The festival was founded in 2009 by a group of volunteers.

Iowa's Clark wants more focus on team after NCAA record set
Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said it was a relief to have Clark's pursuit of the NCAA record end. With Clark having become the face of college basketball, the spotlight has been on the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes for a year. The NCAA doesn't recognize that record because it was set when the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women governed women's college sports. Kudos: Medical care
While the experience involved plenty of pain and continuing challenges, I was struck mostly by the quality of the care I received from the mountain all the way to my hospital discharge. The emergency personnel at the base were equally poised and skilled, as was the EMT in my ambulance to the Tahoe Forest Hospital ER. One couldn’t ask to be in better care, from the skilled doctors and surgeon to a fleet of nurses, medical assistants, physical therapists and other caregivers. I wouldn’t wish this injury on anyone, but if you’re going to break your leg skiing, it may as well be at Palisades. Words can’t do justice to the quality of care I received.

Johnson was able to win a 7-5 decision in overtime over Scottsbluff's Frankie Trevino to reach the finals. Merrick Johnson also qualified for a semifinal match in the 175-pound division, but his match was not over by press time Friday night. Metro rail service back on track after brief halt due to train door malfunction
Metro rail service has resumed after a technical issue at Pallabi station halted operations for around 30 minutes. The disruption was caused by a malfunctioning train door on Saturday afternoon, according Additional Superintendent Mahmood Khan of MRT Police. "Service at Pallabi station was interrupted at 3 pm due to this malfunction, affecting the operation of other trains as well. The problem was resolved and normal service resumed by 3:30 pm," he said. Officials at the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd, the entity overseeing metro rail operations, could not be reached for comment.
