If you’re looking for a new approach to local cuisine, Roux is where you want to go. Grilled shrimp and giant squid from the southern cone have an intense roasted flavor that combines with the herbal aromas from the couscous perfectly. Starting with the Lentils Ragout served with grilled cuttlefish and a southern cone giant squid. Black olive Gnocchis and a grilled giant squid play the role of sides, and do they play it right! Bottom line is take the Chef’s advice on this one and don’t leave the table without trying the house’s Chocolate Textures: a chocolate nemesis topped with chocolate ice-cream, chocolate coulis and chocolate tuile.

The Buenos Aires City legislature approved a measure to name the Sante Fe station of the newly inaugurated “H” subway line after Argentine LGBT activist Carlos Jáuregui. The words Jáuregui wrote in his autobiography maintain a relevance today as much as they did in 1990s Argentina. “If being gay were to affect those who are, it is because of the lack of rights, discrimination and marginalization to which we are exposed to unfairly. He helped found an LGBT rights organization CHA (Homosexual Community of Argentina) that fought for legal recognition and dignity after “seeing what was possible” while living in France. He fought for the legal rights he was refused, for the treatment those in his life (and later he) would need has HIV decimated his community.

Federal Judge Sergio Torres today indicted former vice president — and current political pariah — Amado Boudou for allegedly defrauding the state by having the Economy Ministry purchase 19 luxury cars it didn’t need during his tenure as minister. According to Torres, there’s enough evidence to conclude that in December 2009, Boudou ordered an arbitrary and unfounded purchase of the luxury vehicles through a private auction. In his ruling, Torres argued skipped the legal procedure to get the vehicles and even paid a higher price than the “market value for corporate purchases” at the time. One of the cars was used by Boudou for his personal use as vice president for almost two years when he was Vice President, even though they had been bought for the Economy Ministry, according to Infobae. While we’re at it, let’s take a look back at the other two cases that have the former Vice President in hot water and one where he was left off the hook, just to give him a break.

When he welcomed staff and players of his favorite football club, San Lorenzo and the AS Roma team today, it was a friendly affair. “[The AS] Roma [team] needs to fly high [to beat San Lorenzo, presumably], so I think a San Lorenzo plane would be fitting,” said the Pope to AS Roma, brandishing a toy airplane with the San Lorenzo logo on the side. Of course, Pope Francis’ allegiance is hardly new and, oh how coincidental, the club has enjoyed an astonishing rise in success since he was elected pontiff in 2014. San Lorenzo gave the Pope a San Lorenzo jersey, although he appears to have gotten emotional over the basketball jersey he received. We knew his father had played basketball at the club,” San Lorenzo president Matías Lammens said.

In case you had forgotten, Maradona loves talking smack about Messi. He’s accused him of “lacking the personality to be a leader” and then, much like a high schooler, insisted he wasn’t insulting Messi when he, well, insulted him. He’s also recently accused Messi of “faking” his retirement from the national team. On being asked about his decision to leave Argentina’s National Team only to return two months later, he said:“When I said what I said, I’d made that decision. Or maybe it’s just Messi being Messi.

National lawmaker Margarita Stolbizer yesterday presented her book, “I accuse” (Yo acuso), in which she denounces sophisticated corruption schemes set up by former presidents Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Nothing new from Stolbizer, considering Fernández practically can’t go to the bathroom without having Stolbizer waiting for her with a new claim of corruption. But the book does seem to consolidate Stolbizer’s position as the public figure who will most forcefully go after the previous administration with allegations of corruption. Society as a whole needs to make a serious commitment to never forget the lesson taught by Cristina Kircnher’s two administrations: Corruption kills,” Stolbizer said. Stolbizer and Massa appear close to sealing an alliance ahead of next year’s mid-term elections.

Within a few hours of President Mauricio Macri’s arrival to China, the president announced a key measure aimed to show goodwill toward the hosts of the G20 Summit: Chinese tourists will no longer need visas to visit Argentina. Yet even those who still need to get the visa will benefit, as the new document will be valid for five years, rather than the current 90 days. There are likely to be more announcements abut deals and agreements with China after Macri meets with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping tonight at 11PM (Argentina time). The Macri administration thinks there is a lot of room to grow there considering a whopping 100 million Chinese citizens travel internationally every year. If you had to go somewhere in the City of Buenos Aires today, you probably noticed that the streets, especially in the downtown neighborhoods close to Plaza de Mayo, are absolute chaos. Teachers will not attend school today and join the march, also demanding collective bargaining talks be reopened and better working conditions. The chances of their demands being met, at least in the Buenos Aires Province, seem to be close to zero. In an interview with TN, Buenos Aires province Governor María Eugenia Vidal, said her administration will not promise raises it can’t afford: “teachers and police make little money, they are right to protest. As President Mauricio Macri travels to China in order to promote foreign investment and to participate in the G-20, yesterday’s “Industry Day” brought national tensions to the forefront between the industrial sector and the government. The World Trade Organization (WTO) categorizes China as a “non-market economy,” (NME) but China has argued that should expire in December 2016 — hence Kaufmann Brea’s plea. Aside from fears on China obtaining recognition of MES by the Argentine government, there are also concerns within the declining sector. This week, the INDEC national statistics agency revealed the industrial sector plunged by 7.9 percent in July, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline and the worst drop in 14 years. This would imply further danger to an Argentine industry that would struggle to compete with cheaper imports.

At first, President Mauricio Macri was accused of holding his cards too close to his chest when it came to the question of whether he preferred Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. Then, in an interview with Buzzfeed, he didn’t hesitate when he was asked, making it clear that he prefers Clinton over Trump. Argentina’s ambassador to the US, Martín Lousteau, had also previously implied Buenos Aires would prefer Hillary Clinton, but framed the issue as one more of convenience than anything else, saying continuity would make relations easier. The other panelist will be Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the moderators will be none other than Chelsea Clinton and Bill Clinton. Friday, September 2, 2016 Ousted Rousseff appeals to Supreme CourtA supporter of Brazil’s former president Dilma Rousseff holds a sign depicting Brazil’s new President Michel Temer, during a protest after the Senate removed her from office, in Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday. BRASILIA — Brazil’s ousted president Dilma Rousseff appealed to the Supreme Court yesterday to overturn the Senate’s decision to remove her from office for breaking budgetary rules. In the unlikely event the Supreme Court approved an injunction, Temer would return to being interim president while the Senate trial was repeated. So far, all requests made by Rousseff’s defence on the merits of the impeachment process against her have been rejected by the Supreme Court, whose Chief Justice Ricardo Lewandowski presided over her impeachment trial. Fears of a rift in his coalition were fuelled on Wednesday, when senators of his own party angered allies by granting Rousseff the right to hold public office in the future in an apparent contradiction to the Constitution.
