Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) crucial for national energy security
The Joint Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) political statement establishes an equitable energy transition partnership. The international partners are interested in and highly appreciate Việt Nam's efforts regarding the establishment of an equitable energy transition partnership. The Prime Minister approved the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) on May 15. Additionally, the Comprehensive National Energy Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, was approved on July 26. There is also an action plan for the implementation of the political statement establishing an equitable energy transition partnership.

50 years of Việt Nam-Japan diplomatic ties: Towards the future, reaching out to the world

State needs mechanism to promote renewable energy development
Việt Nam has great potential for renewable energy sources such as hydropower, wind power, solar power and biomass power. For HCM City, Sơn also suggested the city's leaders to review the progress and problems when implementing renewable energy projects, thereby contributing to complete the policy framework on national renewable energy development. Many enterprises produce solar power to sell to EVN, while EVN's commercial price of solar power is only 7.2 cents/kWh. The State needs to have more open and adequate guidelines and policies to create a stable investment environment for renewable energy projects, he said. It also is necessary to have more appropriate solutions and mechanisms for developing renewable energy projects.

Former imperial capital moves to cut plastic waste
Hue, once Vietnam’s imperial capital and now the provincial capital of central Thua Thien-Hue province, has become an appealing tourist destination, attracting rising numbers of domestic and foreign tourists. Thua Thien-Hue’s tourism sector has set a target of welcoming 3-3.5 million visitors this year. The project has also involved painting murals to raise awareness about plastic waste and to change behaviour towards buying products that generate plastic waste. Resolving the challenges posed by plastic waste is among the important factors in increasing the value of Vietnam’s tourism sector and creating a beautiful image for the country, especially in the context of green tourism becoming an inexorable trend. With just small actions, local residents and tourists can become environmentally-friendly ambassadors, contributing to building Hue into a heritage site free of any plastic waste./.

Proposed revisions to Việt Nam's oil and gas sector development strategy reviewed
At the workshop, there was a strong emphasis on the need for the CPV's Politburo to promptly consider issuing a new resolution titled 'Strategic Directions for Development of Việt Nam's Oil and Gas Sector by 2030, with a Vision to 2045'. This collaborative workshop, organised to assess the implementation of strategic policies for Việt Nam's oil and gas industry as per Politburo Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW, achieving its goals and objectives, and exploring Việt Nam's oil and gas potential. It also delved into new approaches for the sector's development strategy in the current context, improving regulatory mechanisms, laws, and policies for oil and gas development by 2030, with a vision to 2045. Additionally, the workshop addressed strategic oil reserves and enhancing the operational mechanisms of the fuel market to meet domestic demand while integrating national defense, security, and foreign affairs into Việt Nam's oil and gas sector.
