Private and public representatives from Norway and Vietnam recently attended the “Energy Transition: Norway-Vietnam Business Partnership” seminar to further discuss the topic on Wednesday, 13 September 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The seminar was held by the Embassy of Norway, Norwegian Energy Partners and the Vietnamese Department of Oil, Gas, and Coal. According to the Vietnam News, more than seventy delegates from local and global energy companies and stakeholders in the energy sector in Vietnam joined the seminar. Additionally, executives from fifteen Norwegian companies including Equinor, DNV, Mainstream, VARD, Scatec, NOV, and Sperton participated. As “Energy transition is an inevitable process, and now we have to work towards that goal,” said Mette Møglestue, Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi, business representatives from both parties got to exchange their experiences in the energy sector as well as explore more possible collaboration in areas such as offshore, wind power, clean hydrogen, CCS, and LNG.

This growth has raised Vietnam’s export turnover of the fish to the UK in the first seven months of this year to more than 4.5 million USD, representing a year on year rise of 77%.On July 16, the UK signed a document to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The accession is expected to boost trade between the UK and the members of the CPTPP bloc, including Vietnam.Along with the UKVFTA that the two countries signed in late 2020, incentives from the CPTPP will open up opportunities for Vietnamese seafoods, including tuna, to enter the UK market, according to experts.

HÀ NỘI — A report by the Việt Nam Computer Emergency Response Teams (VNCERT) indicates a substantial uptick in cyber incidents targeting IoT devices in the past years, and from the beginning of last year, the Authority of Information Security (AIS) has forecasted that attacks on IoT devices will be one of four main trends in cyberattacks in the country. The theme of the workshop is “Cyber Immunity for Security in IoT”, in recognition of the complex cybersecurity landscape brought about by the proliferation of IoT devices. As the number of IoT devices grows exponentially, the installation of protective tools that need regular updates on each of them is time-consuming and resource-intensive. To operationalise the vision of Cyber Immunity, Kaspersky developed its own operating system – KasperskyOS. We believe Cyber Immunity offers a new paradigm for how IT systems should be designed.

Illustrative image (Photo: Toyota Vietnam)- Members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) sold 22,540 vehicles in August, down 9% compared to the previous month, VAMA has reported.Of the vehicles sold last month, there were 17,335 passenger cars, down 10%; 5,036 commercial vehicles, down 5%; and 169 special-use vehicles , up 14% month-on-month.This indicates that the automotive market in Vietnam has faced difficulties in maintaining stable sales, especially in the two key segments of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.In terms of vehicle origin, the sales of domestically-assembled and imported completely built-up (CBU) vehicles reached 13,118 units and 9,422 units, down 3% and 15% month-on-month, respectively.In the first eight months of this year, VAMA members sold a total of 184,554 vehicles of all kinds, down 30% annually, with the sales of passenger cars, commercial and special-use vehicles dropping by 34%, 13%, and 61%, respectively.Besides VAMA member units, the Vietnamese auto market also includes other automakers such as Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen, and Volvo, but they do not disclose business results.Meanwhile, Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) announced its sales of 3,145 units in August, and 35,191 in the Jan – August period.Based on the sales reports from VAMA and TC Group, 25,685 units were sold in August, lifting the total sales in the first eight months to 219,745 units.Toyota led the market in August with 3,922 units, up 16.7% from the previous month. It was followed by KIA, Huyndai, Mazda and Ford./.

The benchmark VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) gained 1.78 per cent to close at 1,245.44 points. Real estate and construction stocks witnessed a dramatic gain in prices, such as Khang Điền House (KDH), Novaland (NVL) and Phát Đạt Real Estate Group (PDR). Meanwhile, the HNX-Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange (HNX) gained 1.99 per cent, to close Tuesday at 256.32 points. During the trading session, investors poured VNĐ1.9 trillion into the northern market, equivalent to a trading volume of 97.5 million shares.
