Trump Vs. Harris 2024 Polls: Harris Up 2 Points In Latest Survey As Race Is Nearly Tied
A CBS/YouGov poll released Sunday showed Harris leading Trump 51%-48% with likely voters—slightly tighter than Harris’ 52%-48% lead last month—while Harris has a narrower 50%-49% edge in the seven battleground states. Harris leads by five points in Morning Consult’s weekly poll, also released Tuesday, consistent with her standing in last week’s Morning Consult survey. Three other polls over the past month—a Quinnipiac survey released Sept. 24, a New York Times/Siena poll out Sept. 19 and a CNN/SSRS poll released Sept. 24—showed Trump and Harris tied, while virtually all other polls show Harris ahead. Surprising FactA poll from NBC News released Sept. 29 found that while Harris still leads Trump among Latinos, the lead is shrinking. ABC News hosted the first debate between Harris and Trump on Sept. 10 from Philadelphia.

State backs environmentalists after water shutoff kills thousands of fish in Kern River
LOS ANGELES — California officials have joined a legal effort to restore water to the Kern River after an abrupt shutoff of water dried up the river and killed thousands of fish in Bakersfield. Bonta announced Monday that he and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife filed a brief supporting the environmental groups in their case before the state’s Fifth District Court of Appeal. It followed an appeals court ruling that cleared the way for city officials and water managers to reduce flows upstream, keeping some water behind a dam and sending other supplies to farms. It requires that all dam owners and operators release sufficient water to keep fish below the dams in “good condition.”Six environmental groups have also cited this statute in their case. Last year, a judge granted the environmental groups a preliminary injunction requiring the city to ensure sufficient water to keep the river flowing and provide for fish.

The move is part of new CEO Brian Niccol’s strategy to reposition Starbucks as a premium brand while also reducing the strain on employees, who get flooded with work when promotions are high. Starbucks also isn’t planning to run broad offers during the holiday season, and instead aims to promote seasonal drinks through advertising, the Journal noted.
