President Donald Trump's picks to lead the next administration are talking about abolishing entire agencies and firing tens of thousands of federal workers at a time. The idea seems far-fetched at first because federal agencies are established by federal law. Trump can make federal workers' lives so miserable that they quitAmong the ideas Trump is expected to try again this term is to make the lives of some federal workers uncomfortable or to relocate their jobs to remote locations. While lawsuits and complaints by federal workers could take years to resolve, the federal government could owe back pay to workers who can prove they were wrongfully terminated. Trump's protectionist policies, particularly potential tariffs on Chinese goods, have prompted concerns about hitting demand, market watchers say. The bullish rebound in energy prices and overall tightness in the palm oil supply also boosted prices, he added. The Malaysia Palm Oil Council forecasts steady demand for palm oil in November, supported by upcoming holidays. Oil prices mounted a rally on Monday as concerns over the Russia-Ukraine intensified, but ran into stiff resistance from bearish investors. The precious metal has regained some ground after Donald Trump's U.S. presidential election victory prompted a surge in the greenback, suppressing gold demand.

Musk's Free Tax Filing App Proposal Shakes H&R Block And Intuit Stocks Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency explores app to streamline tax filing for Americans and disrupt established tax servicesShares of H&R Block and Intuit took notable hits this week amid reports of Elon Musk's ambitious plans for the establishment of a mobile tax-filing app. While the conversations around the mobile tax filing app are still at nascent stages, analysts are mixed about the prospects of government-sponsored filing options. Some predict potential threats to the traditional revenue streams of H&R Block, Intuit, and similar firms, as competition from the IRS could redefine market dynamics. H&R Block faced scrutiny when the Federal Trade Commission charged the firm for misleading marketing practices around their free offerings. The emergence of this proposal for free filing options could ignite shifts more substantial than market reactions.

The AI Race Through Export ControlsThe race for AI supremacy has led to the use of export controls and other regulatory measures by the US on an unprecedented scale. The political dimension flared in Congressional concern over advanced technology loss, leading the Microsoft-G42 partnership to experience a pressure-induced scaleback. US-allied cooperation on post-October 2022 export controls is not, of course, a mirror image of the Microsoft-G42 deal. A strength of this recommendation is that it echoes the stances taken by others along the spectrum of opinion on US-led export controls. The Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Barah Harithas, for example, puts forward a more pronounced stance on American export control strategy.

ADHD has a strong genetic component and is highly heritable, and many children with ADHD have a parent who also has the disorder. Photo courtesy of James MontanezFabrikant-Abzug is working to understand how parenting strategies can impact a child’s ADHD symptoms, especially when that parent has ADHD themselves. Medication and therapy are not the only ways to mitigate a child’s ADHD symptoms; interventions that improve parenting strategies also work — but less so when the parents themselves have ADHD. Fabrikant-Abzug is working with her mentor Lauren Friedman, an assistant professor of psychology at ASU, to untangle the interactions between parenting style and a child’s ADHD symptoms. When both a parent and their child have ADHD, Fabrikant-Abzug explained that it can create a feedback loop.
