The New York Times reported the meeting took place earlier this week, citing two Iranian officials. Associated Press also reported a meeting between the two, citing a US official briefed by a foreign colleague. But Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei “categorically denied” that a meeting took place and was “surprised” by the coverage in US media, state-run IRNA said. CNN has reached out to Musk, Trump’s transition team and the Iranian mission at the UN for confirmation of the meeting. Trump announced Tuesday that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” in his second administration.

The Florida Panthers pulled off an epic run last year to win the first Stanley Cup in team history. While that triumph was joyous for head coach Paul Maurice and his players, it has put the spotlight and the pressure clearly on the Panthers for the 2024-25 season. It would not be a surprise if those two teams battle for the division title throughout the season. While Verhaeghe has been a goal scorer and a clutch player throughout his career, he is off to a halting start with the Panthers. That's simply not good enough and he will have to do better if the Panthers are going to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

Endorsements Emerge As Flashpoints Of 2024 Election Major newspapers withdraw support as celebrity endorsements struggle to sway votersWith the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election fast approaching, the role of endorsements—whether from major news organizations or celebrities—has become more contentious and complex than ever. A New York Times analysis illustrated the paradox: celebrity endorsements can generate headline buzz yet fail to connect with voters concerned with mundane but pressing issues like the economy. With Trump’s chronicled aversion to conventional media outlets and Harris’s reliance on traditional endorsements, the varied strategies highlight the uncertain terrain both campaigns navigate. The rise of alternative media and influencers has been pivotal, with figures like Joe Rogan pulling younger, more diverse audiences who may overlook traditional media altogether. Despite the significant endorsement power of high-profile celebrities of yesteryears, the political narrative suggests another evolution is underway.

Mexico soccer manager Javier Aguirre struck by can thrown onto the pitch from stands, left with bloodied headJavier Aguirre sustained a head injury after he was hit by a can thrown from the stands. Mexico’s national soccer team manager Javier Aguirre was left with a bloodied head after he was struck by a can thrown from the stand following his team’s 2-0 defeat to Honduras on Friday. Footage posted on social media showed Aguirre walking across the pitch in San Pedro Sula, Honduras while objects thrown by the crowd landed on the ground around him. One then struck Aguirre’s head and exploded with liquid while he flinched and a cut opened up on his scalp. Aguirre then tossed away the gauze and walked off the pitch, shielded by a line of security holding up riot shields, litter thrown from the stands strewn about their feet.

The head of the U.S. intelligence community must be willing and able to distinguish between democracies and autocracies, and separate propaganda from reality. It’s that her long-standing pattern of embracing and amplifying Russian propaganda speaks to her poor judgment and tenuous allegiance to the truth. But military service alone doesn’t ensure one is qualified to lead the intelligence community. Like Flynn, Gabbard has a troubling record of promoting disinformation that is damaging to U.S. interests and the intelligence community she is being asked to lead. And in 2022, she amplified debunked Russian propaganda about the existence of U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine, propaganda that was used by Russian President Vladimir Putin to justify his aggression.
