The world’s richest man regularly consumed ketamine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms during his rise to political prominence, anonymous sources familiar with his activities told the Times. While ketamine can be legally prescribed as a Schedule III substance, recreational use or mixing it with other drugs would probably violate federal workplace policies. “If you’ve used too much ketamine, you can’t really get work done, and I have a lot of work,” Musk previously told journalist Don Lemon in March 2024, downplaying his consumption. “Yet Elon Musk did just that, joining the Trump Administration’s efforts to cut waste, fraud and abuse. However, those insiders tell the Times that Musk received advance warning of random drug tests – undermining their effectiveness.

Ryanair will stop flying from Maastricht Aachen Airport (MAA) from October, the airline announced. According to McGuinness, these countries are “reducing airport costs and abolishing aviation taxes to stimulate traffic recovery and growth.”MAA told NOS that it regrets Ryanair’s decision. Ryanair does not want to pay the rates that cover the airport’s costs, the spokesperson told the broadcaster. Rising aviation taxes in the Netherlands also “obviously did not help bring the talks with Ryanair to a successful conclusion,” the MAA spokesperson said. Ryanair also mentioned the Dutch aviation tax, which, according to the airline, increased by 275 percent since 2021.

A Bill seeking to protect vulnerable women and girls from prostitution has been launched at Holyrood by Ash Regan MSP. In an attempt to overhaul Scotland’s prostitution laws, Regan’s Prostitution (Offences and Support) (Scotland) Bill would criminalise the purchase of sex and provide support to help women exit prostitution. End abuseThe Christian Institute’s Director, Ciarán Kelly, commented: “We are grateful to Ash Regan for raising this vital issue. UK man in court after Liverpool parade crash (Image: TOI)Liverpool Crash Suspect Paul Doyle FIGHTS BACK TEARS in Court | Major Trial UPDATELiverpool: A former British Marine appeared in court for the first time Friday charged with allegedly driving his car into crowds celebrating Liverpool's Premier League win, leaving 79 people injured.Paul Doyle faces seven charges including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent during Monday's incident in the north-western English city, which marred the port city's huge celebrations. The 53-year-old confirmed his name, date of birth and address during a brief appearance at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.UK media outlets inside the courtroom reported that Doyle - wearing a black suit, white shirt and grey tie - held back tears before the hearing broke for an adjournment.A total of 79 people aged between nine and 78 were injured when a dark Ford Galaxy ploughed into Liverpool supporters as they celebrated their club's record-equalling 20th English top-flight title. There were no fatalities.Seven people remained in hospital, Merseyside Police assistant chief constable Jenny Sims told reporters on Thursday.Sarah Hammond of the Crown Prosecution Service said the agency had authorised police to charge Doyle following a "complex and ongoing investigation". "Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a huge volume of evidence," she said. "This includes multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness statements. It is important to ensure every victim gets the justice they deserve. "UK media have reported Doyle, who lives in a suburb of Liverpool, is a businessman and former marine, with three teenage children.Hammond said all charges "will be kept under review as the investigation progresses".Hundreds of thousands of Reds fans had gathered in Liverpool city centre for the long parade led by the club's top players when scenes of joy turned to horror.Images on social media showed the car ploughing through a crowd, running over people and others bouncing off its bonnet.Four people, including one child, were trapped under the vehicle, which had to be lifted to remove them, fire services said.In other clips circulating online, the car was seen being halted and swarmed by angry fans, who smashed the back windows as police sought to hold them back.Police quickly ruled out terrorism, as well as swiftly revealing the suspect was a white British man, in a rare move to quell misinformation online.Almost a year ago, Liverpool and north England saw the worst riots in decades after false rumours spread that the attacker who stabbed three girls to death in nearby Southport was a Muslim immigrant.

SUBSCRIBENigel Farage’s party faces embarrassment today as new figures appear to discredit Reform UK’s claims about ‘wasteful’ public sector spending on diversity schemes. The civil service spend amounts to less than a penny a week per person living in Britain. Yet the £27m civil service EDI spending is just 0.4% of Reform UK’s claimed total public sector DEI spend per year. Perhaps it might be an idea to tax him more instead.”Others though noted that Reform UK is following the Trumpian playbook. Reform UK has increasingly talked up claims of public sector spending on diversity, equality and inclusion, saying it would scrap all spending on such projects.

British actor and comedian Russell Brand arrives at Southwark Crown Court, in London (AP)LONDON: British comedian and actor Russell Brand arrived at a London court on Friday where he was due to enter pleas on five charges of sexual offences including rape and sexual assault. He faces one count of rape, one of oral rape, two of sexual assault and one of indecent assault between 1999 and 2005, involving four women.Brand, 49, arrived at Southwark Crown Court in an open-buttoned shirt and dark blazer for the plea hearing, after being granted conditional bail at a previous hearing. He gained international recognition as the husband of pop star Katy Perry, but is better known in the UK for his hyper-sexualised and often lewd comedy routines and TV and radio appearances in the early 2000s.Now living partly in the US, Brand appeared at Westminster magistrates court in central London earlier this month, where he showed no emotion as a prosecutor read out allegations against him.Prosecutors charged Brand following a police probe into allegations aired in a 2003 Channel 4 documentary. He is accused of raping one woman in a hotel room following an event in the southern Bournemouth area in 1999.Another charge relates to the oral rape and sexual assault of a woman in 2004 in central London. The accusations involve four women, including one who was a TV worker, and another who was a radio station worker at the time of the alleged assaults. In a video response on X after he was charged in April, Brand said he was "grateful" for the "opportunity" to defend himself. "I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity," he said in the video.Born in 1975 to working-class parents in Essex, east of London, Brand began his stand-up career as a teenager, eventually working as an MTV presenter and host of a Big Brother spin-off.He presented a show on the BBC's Radio 2 station between 2006 and 2008, but quit after an on-air prank when he left a sexually explicit voicemail for "Fawlty Towers" actor Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter.Once a left-leaning political campaigner and Hollywood star, he has rebranded himself as a conservative guru to his millions of social media followers.Brand often peddles conspiracy theories, as well as sharing wellness tips, in his anti-establishment videos. Last year, he said he became a Christian after being baptised in the Thames river.

The New York Times has agreed to its first artificial intelligence licensing arrangement, partnering with Amazon to allow the tech giant to use the newspaper's editorial content across its AI platforms. Under the Amazon agreement, excerpts from Times reporting will include attribution and links back to the newspaper's website in some instances. The deal comes as news organisations grapple with how to respond to the rapid emergence of AI technology. Amazon has been working to catch up in the AI race after being caught off-guard by the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022. The partnership could help Amazon enhance its AI offerings whilst providing The Times with a new revenue stream and potential subscriber acquisition channel.
