Adriano Moraes (left) and Zebaztian Kadestam have been released by ONE ChampionshipONE Championship has released four fighters from its roster, with former MMA world champions Adriano Moraes and Zebaztian Kadestam among the departures. Heavyweight Mauro Cerilli and featherweight Ilya Freymanov are also included in the latest round of roster cuts. Most notably, Kadestam scored a stunning second-round knockout of Roberto Soldic in 2023 that briefly revived hopes of another title run. Kadestam leaves ONE with a 7-5 record. But that momentum vanished almost instantly when Thanh Le submitted him with a heel hook just 62 seconds into their interim featherweight MMA title bout in October 2023.

Activists press PM on fuel, power reliefMembers of 14 civil society groups gather at the government complaints centre at Government House on Monday, calling for urgent measures to ease the nationwide fuel crisis. (Photos: Apichart Jinakul)Fourteen civil society groups have petitioned Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, calling on the government to urgently cut fuel prices, freeze household gas prices, lower electricity tariffs and curb the cost of essential goods. They argued that fuel prices remain high due to what they described as overlapping levies and charges, including value-added tax, oil fund contributions, local taxes, environmental levies, refining costs and marketing fees. Second, they called on the government to reduce electricity tariffs from 4.18 baht per unit to 3 baht per unit, in line with campaign pledges previously made by parties now in power. On Wednesday, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is set to review electricity tariffs for the May–August billing period.

Power tariff could rise as high as B4.59 per unitA power meter in operation. Under this option, the electricity tariff would rise to 4.59 baht per unit. The second scenario excludes the repayment and would result in a lower tariff of 4.08 baht per unit. Under the third scenario, Egat’s debt repayment would be excluded and around 9.4 billion baht from a claw-back mechanism would be used to subsidise power costs. This would reduce the tariff by about 13 satang per unit, bringing it to 3.95 baht per unit - still higher than the current rate of 3.88 baht per unit.

(Photo: AFP)TEHRAN — The world faces an energy crisis worse than both 1970s oil shocks combined if the Middle East war drags on, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned Monday, as Israel launched fresh strikes on Tehran and threatened weeks more fighting. "This crisis as things stand is now two oil crises and one gas crash put all together," Birol said. "No country will be immune to the effects of this crisis if it continues to go in this direction." At least 40 energy assets across the oil- and gas-exporting region have already been "severely or very severely damaged", Birol said, with oil prices driven above US$100 a barrel over supply fears.

The rollout has raised concerns among critics and digital rights groups that Moscow will use Max to surveil its citizens and further cut digital links to the West. It is not officially mandatory, but the authorities are making it clear that life without Max will become increasingly hard. President Vladimir Putin has touted it as a more "secure" platform that meets Russia's demand for "technological sovereignty." 'Being watched'The launch of Max comes years into Russia's political and technological campaign to develop a "sovereign internet", less reliant on -- and vulnerable to -- foreign services. Unlike Telegram and Whatsapp, Max does not use end-to-end encryption and its terms of use state that user data is stored exclusively on services in Russia.

Democrats have demanded curtailed patrols, a ban on face masks and a requirement that ICE agents obtain a judicial warrant before entering private property.
