The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the EU Foreign Affairs Council statement on Libya. The UNSMIL emphasized the importance of the EU Council's statement, which considered the attack on Tripoli and the ensuing violence a threat to international peace and security, let alone, the stability of Libya. It also stressed its endorsement to the EU call for conflict parties to cooperate with the United Nations for an immediate ceasefire, warning that indiscriminate attacks on civilians and infrastructure may amount to war crimes.
