Recent nor’wester storm has created potholes on Gopalganj-Kotalipara-Poisharhat highway in Gopalganj Dhaka TribuneGopalganj Road and Highway Department authorities, in an attempt to remedy the situation, have been using bags of sand and dirt to fill the potholesThe continuous seasonal rain and storm has hit Gopalganj district hard, and damaged a substantial portion of the Gopalganj-Kotalipara-Poisharhat Highway. The nor’wester storm has created multiple potholes on different parts of the highway, exponentially increasing the possibilities of road collision, as highway vehicles tend to maintain high speeds. Gopalganj Road and Highway Department (GRHD) authorities, in an attempt to remedy the situation, have been using bags of sand and dirt to fill the potholes. This year, Tk26 crore was used to repair the road which resulted in no good outcome, this is very similar to the repair works in previous years. “We called for slab protection tender for the repair works, by which we hope the road can be protected from damage due to rainfall.”
