Two experienced helicopter pilots who collided with each other in perfect flying conditions at Sea World may have been 'distracted', according to industry experts. Sydney mother Vanessa Tadros, 36, was one of four people killed in the helicopter crash. Her husband and Leon's step-father Neil shouted them the 10-minute flight from Sea World only to watch on in 'numb' disbelief as their helicopter plunged into the sandbar. Mr James is believed to have only worked as a Sea World helicopter pilot for a year, although he is said to be highly skilled with many prior years of flying. The two Sea World helicopters in the air seconds before impact on Monday afternoonAviation law expert Professor Ron Bartsch believes authorities will be more focused on the cause rather than attributing blame.

SriLankan seeks suspension of payments from holders of bonds worth USD 175mn View(s):The debt-ridden SriLankan Airlines has requested a 12-month suspension of debt-service payments from holders who have invested in its USD 175 million government-guaranteed international bonds which mature in 2024. The deferral of interest payments covered the coupon payments due on December 25, 2022, and June 25, 2023. It also referred to the Government’s ambitious reform plan, and ongoing talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to secure a USD 2.9 billion Extended Fund Facility. “The recovery of post-pandemic international travel has had a positive impact on passenger numbers. However, the situation in Sri Lanka remains difficult and this in turn continues to put pressure on the company’s revenue and costs,” the statement said.

Wrangling over nominees stalls Constitutional Council View(s):By Sandun JayawardanaNew appointments to independent commissions continue to be stalled as the Constitutional Council (CC) has still not been fully constituted. A CC meeting held on Thursday to decide on the appointment of the three non-MPs in the 10-member Council ended inconclusively. The CC cannot proceed with appointing members to the independent commissions until the entire 10-member Council is in place, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena told the Sunday Times yesterday. Under the 21st Amendment passed in October, the CC is the body tasked with recommending members to the independent commissions. The 21st Amendment, however, allows for serving members of the independent commissions to continue in office until the assumption of office by new members.
