India revises guidelines for international arrivals over Omicron variant
Union Health Ministry on Sunday revised guidelines for international arrivals in India which will be effective from December 1. The guidelines require passengers to submit the self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha Portal before the scheduled travel and to submit the last 14 days travel details. The guidelines also mandated the uploading of negative RT-PCR test reports on the Air Suvidha portal before the journey. As per Health Ministry’s guidelines, travellers from ‘countries at-risk’ will need to take the COVID-19 test post-arrival and wait for results at the airport. The existing guidelines have been revised in view of reporting of a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 (B.1.1.529; named Omicron) which has now been classified as a Variant of Concern by the World Health Organization.

The Attorney General told the court that limited objections will be filed with regard to these applications. The Court ordered for those objections to be filed on the 6th of December, and for counter-objections to be filed on the 13th of December. The FR applications were filed with the Supreme Court challenging the Cabinet Decision to transfer 40% of the power plant to the US-based company, and the application seek the decision to be made null. Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, and several other factions filed applications with the Supreme Court. The Prime Minister, Cabinet of Ministers, Cabinet Secretary, The Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board are among the 48 respondents named in these applications.

Week 47 brought no major shift in our trending chart with Xiaomi's Redmi Note 11 Pro retaining the lead. The Redmi Note 10 Pro is another phone on the rise despite its advanced age and is now fourth, ahead of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. We then have the newly announced Redmi Note 11 4G, which just edged the Galaxy A12 for the sixth place. The Poco X3 Pro is up to eight, while the Google Pixel 6a only just entered the rumor mill and already got enough people checking its specs page to take the ninth position. In tenth place we have the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, which means we are losing the Poco M4 Pro and the Motorola Moto G200.

EU Court rejects move to lift ban on LTTE View(s):The European Union’s General Court this week rejected an appeal to lift the proscription of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as an international terrorist organisation within Europe. They had applied to annul the relisting of the LTTE as a terrorist organisation by the European Council in January 2019, ten years after the military defeat of the LTTE. The European Council had held that in 2019 that the LTTE’s “international fundraising and revival capacities remained” despite its military defeat ten years earlier. The LTTE was first listed as a terrorist organisation by the EU in 2006. The Court rejected multiple pleas lodged by the LTTE branch in Denmark before dismissing the action in full.

Those who tested positive and the doctor on tour will stay back till they test negative. “Accordingly, our players, barring those who tested positive, will travel to Dubai and then to Sri Lanka.
